Caloundra Highlights Term 3 - Week 5 - Friday 14th August 2020

YEAR 12 AND PROGRAM OF EXCELLENCE/EXTENSION GROUP PHOTOS MSP Photography will be performing a one off photo shoot on Monday morning 31st

August. They will be capturing our Year 12 cohort photo, as well as taking group photos of our Programs of Excellence and Arts Extension Program students.

All Senior students are to be in their Everyday Uniform with tie (no senior jerseys), short white ankle socks and black shoes, no excessive makeup, no inappropriate jew-elry and long hair tied back as per the school Dress Code.

POE/Extension coordinators will advise students on their dress for the photo.

PARENTLINE CYBER BULLYING TRAINING FOR PARENTS Parentline Cyber Bullying training has been designed for use by adults who care for

older children and teens at risk of, or have already experienced Cyber Bullying. To view the landing page and access training resources CLICK HERE. This training is free and available 24/7 via an internet enabled device.

The Parentline Cyberbullying training will be helpful to parents and carers who are; nervous or fearful of using the internet or new devices, anxious about their children using the internet, concerned cyberbullying may be impacting on their child, concerned their child may be engaging in cyberbullying behaviors, learning how to identify when cyberbullying may be impacting them and would like supportive, practical information around starting uncomfortable conversations.

AMELIA EARHART BURSARY - YEAR 12 The Zonta Club of Caloundra City inc. offers a Bursary of $2000 to girls in Yr 12 who are

planning to study science, engineering, maths or aeronautical studies at a tertiary level in 2021. The Bursaries are awarded annually and may be used at any University or College. Zonta is a worldwide service organisation of business and professional women working together to advance the status of women worldwide. The Amelia Earhart Bur-sary honours the memory of aviator Amelia Earhart. Applications need to be received by 30th September 2020. Click on the link for an application form.

ATTENDANCE Please remind your child to always sign into the school, at the Student Counter when

arriving late to school no matter what time they arrive. Please also ensure that your child is at school every day for the whole day. Although

we understand that at times students need to leave school during the day, please make every attempt to arrange appointments outside of school hours.

Students are required to attend Parade on their allocated day. Please note that students are to wear their ties on parade day. Please see the blue column to the right for your child’s parade day and location.

YEAR 11 EXAM TIMETABLE Year 11 Exam Block will be held 14.09.20 - 18.09.20. Year 11 students will only be

expected to attend during this time if they have an exam. Please click on the link for Year 11 Exam Block times and information.

COVID –19 UPDATE The Department of Education is monitoring the COVID-19 situation with plans in place

in the event of a positive notification within the school community. The school is continuing to apply the hygiene practices and social distancing requirements for adults

as well as restricting the gathering of large groups of students.

ACTING PRINCIPAL Next week I will be taking leave and Mr Lynes will be the Acting Principal while I am on

leave for the two weeks. Mrs Fry will be acting Deputy Principal.

P and C NEWS The P and C are keen to apply for grants on behalf of the school and so are compiling a
