Olympics A-ZBy Shayla
There are over 500 athletes in the Olympics! If we were Olympian's it would be nerve racking. And it is a honor to be able to compete in those games and everyone is watching.
A is for Athletes
Bobsledding is a sport with 4 team mates and there are a 2 person bobsled. The 2 people in the middle of the sled are called pushers!
B is for Bobsledding
Cypress mountain is a place were they give away medals for Snow boarding and all kinds of skiing! It also is a place for many more sports.
C is for Cypress Mountain
Denmark is a country that is famous for there Tulips and they’re Amber! It is one of the smallest countries in the Olympics.
D is for Denmark
Enright plays men’s curling and he is Canadian. His birthday is November 16th 1983 and he is 26!
E is for Enright Adam
France is a large country in Europe. Paris is the capital city and it has 2,175,200 people.

A gold medal is one of the greatest honor to have. It means that the athletes that have trained for years have done their best to win gold.
G is for Gold
Every one knows that hockey is Canada’s game. This year we have won gold in women’s and the men’s. The first All Star game was in1947 but it was actually played in Canada in 1885.

The inukshuk is this year Olympic symbol. Inukshuks are stone man that points the way. And it is markers and guidelines.
I is for Inukshuk
The J-tear is a trick for snowboarding. It was named after Mike Jacoby. It is when a athlete rotates roughly 540 degrees front- pant and has one or two hands on the wall.

Korea is one of the countries that is playing in the 2010 Olympic Games. This year they have won 14 medals in total. Some of the medals were won by Kim Yu-Na for figure skating and Lee Seung-Hoon for speed skating 10000.
K is for Korea
Luge is a sport in the Olympics. It was first heard of in 1905 by savory/ Swiss. Luge means “small coasting sled” in French.

To get a medal means that you have done your best to be number one, number two, or number three in the world at that sport. This year Canada got the most golds with the total of 14.

Neilson drew is a snowboarder that is the Olympics. He is from Canada. He was born on June 15, 1974.

They say that the Olympics started in 776 BC in Greece. Women in that time were not allowed to compete or watch the Olympics. And the athletes would play their sports in nude.

Pike is a free style sking term. It is when a the athlete is in a jack knife position in which the body bends at the waist.

Quatchi is one of the Olympic Mascot. He loves to play hockey and loves to try all kinds of food. His dream is to become a world famous goalie.

Is a venue for speed skating. The capacity level is 7 600. It is located of the bank of Fraser River, and is 14 kilometers south of downtown Vancouver.
R is for Richmond Olympic Ovel
Short track is a sport for the Olympics. Short Track was usually was practiced in the USA and Canada.
S is for Short Track Speed Skating
Thailand is one of the countries that is competing in the Olympics. This year Thailand didn’t win any medals.

Upperton Helen is a athlete that is in the Olympics. The sport that she does is bobsleigh. This year she won silver.

Vicent Tania is a short track speed skater. She didn’t win any medals this year. She was born on January 13 1976.

With Glowing Hearts is this years modo. I think it means that we are proud to be Canadian.
W is for With Glowing Hearts
Everyone gets excited about the Olympics. When it’s the gold medal game everyone is excited. The Olympics make you excited because well I think because you want Canada to win.
X is for Exciting
Do you yell when Canada wins a medal? I know I do. Yelling I think it means you are excited or pleased with Canada for what they did.

Zakreski Kimiko is a Olympic athlete . The sport she does is snowboarding. She was born on December 31, 1983.
