States that the power comes from the people (Popular Sovereignty)

The Goals of the Government

1. “form a more perfect Union”-make sure all the states are getting

along and working together

2. “establish Justice”-make sure everything is fair

3. “insure domestic tranquility” -make sure everything is peaceful

4. “provide for the common defense”-make sure the people are safe

5. “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity”

-make sure there is freedom for us and our future generations
