Why I Chose This Career

I chose this career because I wanted to help others and I felt like it was an interesting subject. I wanted to know how much a physiotherapist gets paid and what types of different physiotherapists there are. I took an interest in physiotherapy because my dad has a knee injury and I want to be able to help him. I want to be a physiotherapist that travels around the world with sports teams.

Q: What Do Physiotherapists Do?

Assess and diagnose patients injuries or functional problems and decide on a treatment Use a range of treatments to reduce pain and improve movements Plan exercises for patients to improve their strength and fitness Keep records of the patients progress Educate people on how to prevent further injury Help rehabilitate people who have suffered from strokes and accidents Educate caregivers and family about the patients physiotherapy program

Q: What Are The Working Conditions?Usually physiotherapists work business hours but may also work weekends and be on call

You can also work in various locations such as private and public practices, hospitals, with sports teams, rehabilitation centers and patients homes.

Knowledge of physiotherapy methods and equipment Have a detailed knowledge of the biomedical sciences including anatomy, physiology and pathology. ( explained on next slide ) An understanding of movement, injuries, and disabilities and the aging process. Skill in performing mobilization, exercise, movement retraining, manipulation and massage techniques General knowledge of any medical conditions that may affect the treatment given
