I can hardly believe it is already September. Although summeris coming to an end, our lodge has been very busy. As usual, the Italian Riviera Beach Bash was a huge success. Thankyou, Tom Alexon PER, and to everyone else who helped withthe preparation and serving the dinner. The room looked beautiful; my thanks to Joyce Boyles and her team. For everyone who participated in the blood drive, thank you; yourdonation is greatly needed and appreciated.
The annual golf tournament is the lodge’s major charitableevent with 100% of the proceeds funding most of our local
charitable works. I thought the membership would be interested in knowing wheresome of the money went: with money from our 2012 golf tournament we sent 9children to summer camp; we sponsor both boy and girl scout troops; we sponsora local soccer team and little league baseball team; we bought a glass case andmannequin for The Veteran's Learning Center; we supplied and delivered Easterbaskets (in costume) to our local youth; we sponsor Seabreeze High School Culinary Academy (we are their largest sponsor), and we purchased and delivered hundreds of dictionaries to 3rd and 5th graders at 8 local elementaryschools. This is just a portion of where the money goes. Teri Eckenrode and MikeDeeter work long and hard on this event…so from the bottom of our hearts… thankyou both and all who participated and donated their time to make this a successfulevent. Without the support, of you, our members, we could not carry on with ourcharitable work.
This month, I name John Andrews, PER as Elk of the Month. When needed thispast month to train our new chef, Rich, with the daily running of the kitchen Johnstepped in volunteering several days to get the job done. Thank you, for all yourhard work.
Sincerely and Fraternally,Jackie Curtis, Exalted Ruler
