PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
Dear HNM Community,
Tomorrow's Mass will be sent out
around 7:30am via email. I am really
excited about this Mass as Fr. Chris will
be teaching about the Mass as we
celebrate. Fr. Chris is a blessing in
many ways, but his ability to be
present and humble are among my
favorite. When I asked him to do this, he just went with the flow. Being
flexible is a MUST during these times.
This is the first week where I recorded the Mass..... which means there
are some bumps. I realize we learn by doing, but I am asking for
kindness while viewing. Fr. Chris and I stopped the video many times as
we wanted to make it special and educational at the same time.
Please be aware of the protocols during Mass:
1. Video camera must be on. To be counted as present, students must
have the video camera on throughout the Mass and be clearly seen.
2. HNM polo shirts are required.
3. Please participate during the Mass when appropriate.
4. Respectfully follow the Mass.
Hope you learn something new, I know I did!
On another note, when coming on to the
campus, masks are required. Make sure your
mask covers both your mouth and your nose.
Grateful for each of you!

DIGITAL TELETHON
Hi HNM Families,
Due to Covid Restrictions, our ability to fundraise has been impacted. PTG has decided to eliminate our normal first fundraiser, PTG Community Partners, and replace it with our new fundraiser, which we are calling Keep #HNMStrong.
Keep #HNMStrong is a “digital telethon”, or charitable livestream, designed to raise funds and secure donations for the Catholic education provided by Holy Name of Mary School. We appreciate the effort, consistency, service, and dedication seen in our students, parents and teachers. We make our Village Strong! We recognize, though, that people are struggling right now, business are hurting, and we want to be sensitive to that. Still, Holy Name of Mary needs to find ways to fundraise to meet our $100,000 pledge towards the school budget.
The purpose of this livestream telethon is to find people who are in a position to help out and can donate to preserve Catholic Education during this time of uncertainty. We want to put a call out to our community - our Parish, our grandparents, our social media friends, etc. and invite them to our online livestream digital telethon. But first, we need to create the content that would be part of this telethon! We are finalizing the date for the livestream and will send you more information once we have it all worked out. We will be using family numbers to track donations so you can get fundraising credit for people you send to the livestream. We will explain how all this works later.
Our telethon host will be Jackie Stoops! Some of the content will be live and some will be pre-recorded videos. As part of the telethon, we would like to feature parents and students of our school. If you would like to participate, we are asking that students AND parents submit videos with short answers to the following questions: • Why is HNM important to you? • How is HNM Strong? • Why is it important to keep HNM Strong?
We may feature some of your answers in the pre-recorded video segments that will play during the livestream. If you would like to contribute, please upload your videos by Friday, September 18 to this folder: https://www.dropbox.com/request/hdVkG0lQ6WHo6WnDWLjc
We will be in touch with more information on this fundraiser as the details are defined.
Thank you!

DOUBLE BAG LUNCH

Double Bag Lunch Ministry
~Since October 2004~
**1st DBL for 2020-2021 School Year**
**Thursday, Sept. 17th**
Your help is vital!!
As in the past, students who choose to participate in the Double Bag Lunch program can bring
a Ziploc type bag filled with non-perishable food items to give away to someone in our local
community. Thus, teaching our children that we can all make a difference.
Last year, we distributed over 3500 lunches last year to those in great need. Although the
school year may have ended differently than we could have ever imagined, our HNM family
continued to generously support the DBL program. It is truly a beautiful project!
This year we ask for your continued support of DBL. The need is greater now more than ever!
We will once again hold a monthly drop-off of non-perishable food items. We will gladly
retrieve items from your car for your convenience.
Please contact the DBL coordinator if you would like to volunteer to deliver this school year
to our local agencies, we could use your help!!

REFLECTING SUNDAY’S GOSPEL MESSAGE
FAITH HEROES THROUGH FAITH FORMATION
TWENTY-
THIRD
SUNDAY IN
ORDINARY
TIME Matthew 18:21-22
Reflecting on the Word
Often when we are wronged, we complain about it to someone else or we let the
disagreement fester in our hearts. Each
reaction is harmful to ourselves, the other person, and the community. In this
Gospel reading, Jesus is telling us to do the opposite: talk to the person who has wronged us directly. If that doesn’t work,
ask first for another member of your community to confront that person with
you, and then bring it to the whole
community to moderate. Jesus tells us that He is present when we are seeking
reconciliation and praying together as a community.
……ON THE WAY TO MASS
Is there a misunderstanding or argument with someone that is weighing heavily on
your heart?
ON THE WAY HOME FROM MASS……
How can you listen to someone even if
that person wronged you?
Living the Word
With your children, compile a list of qualities that are needed to listen to
someone (for example, patience, empathy, eye contact, focus, and so on). Practice listening to one another throughout the
week. Each night, recall and identify which qualities were used to listen well. Discuss whether it is easier to listen when you are
friendly or angry. Model arguments in which each child can practice being the
wronged party by confronting the one who has hurt them. Talk about how they can
use this to initiate moments of reconciliation.
Parish News
Mass
Streaming:
Holy Name of Mary
continues to provide a
recorded Mass inside the church with bilingual
readings which is streamed at 4pm on Saturday
on facebook and youtube. However, there are
numerous LIVE Masses being streamed on our
youtube channel to accommodate the families of
individuals who receive sacraments during our
outdoor Masses. We apologize if there is any
confusion with so many Masses being available
on a single weekend. We are so grateful for
everyone who continues to worship with us
online and those who join us in person.
