WHAT do you mean?

!   Holiday trips happen

!   Day jaunts

!   Overnight stays

!   Week(s) longer tours

!   All can be captured by you and family of all ages in a BOOK!

WHO can make a book ?

!   EVERYONE!

!   This is a fun project for every member of the holiday trip.

!   Individual books or joint efforts can be part of a daily venture.

How many Supplies will I need? That depends. You can buy a scrapbook

at the dollar store or use a blank notebook.

Collect items from supplies you already have at home—leftovers

from school!

!   Markers

!   Pencils

!   Crayons

!   Tape

!   Glue

!   Reuse some envelopes to store small items that you find along the way

WHERE are we going? Get together to discuss

the destination(s).

!   Map

!   Internet

!   Library

!   Conversations with friends & relatives who have visited or travelled to the same place you are planning to see.

Plan the route.

!   Starting from home, what type of transportation will you take? !   Roads

!   Waterways !   Hiking or bicycle

trails !   Train

!   Airplane

The journey begins… • On the first day, start to draw your map.

• You can spend some time each day on your map and pages of your scrapbook.

Each day, continue to add to map. Write some notes about the sights.

!   Travelling from Ontario to Quebec and then to New Brunswick, we read signs and menus in two languages—French and English. !

!   I was glad that I could still remember much of the French that I learned in school!!

!   Quebec is so full of History, especially the Citadel.!

!   We saw a huge statue of Champlain & walked the Plains of Abraham. !

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND is an island province, the home of Confederation 1867!

PEI is BEAUTIFUL! Amazing beaches, smooth shores, red soil.!Delicious seafood suppers with

clam chowder & scallops.!My fav was the Anne of Green

Gables house and garden.!

Crossing the Confederation Bridge was neat, too.!

The people were so friendly & I liked seeing the Confederation

sight in Charlottetown, the place where our country was born! !

NOVA SCOTIA Writing some poems Lots of things to see

!   GREAT PLACE FOR WHALE WATCHING and for WRITING!!

!   DINING—DELICIOUS DIGBY SCALLOPS!

!   BAY OF FUNDY –WORLD’S HIGHEST TIDES—LOTS OF MUD WHEN THEY GO OUT—GREAT FLOWER POTS JUST LIKE THE ONES AT LAKE HURON IN ONTARIO!

Collect some items along the way!

When travelling with family, there are many freebies to save:!

•  Brochures!

•  Maps!

•  Flyers!

•  Programs!

•  Menus!

Use your scrapbook pages to draw, sketch, list observations, notes about places, scenery and people. Find shells, rocks, driftwood.!

Holiday trip ends. Spend some time to flip through your scrapbook. Select some pictures to

add to your book. !Finish your map! !

Cut, paste, glue, write, draw, sketch. !

On the back page, print the year & sign your name. Store your book in a special spot for the future to look at your summer

book again!!The end.!
