The automatic blister pack -aging machine, HSA 50d,consists of a thermoformingand a sealing unit to form acomplete production system.Blister packs with thermo -formed transparent caps canbe produced by upgradingthe system with card loadingand pack lift-out devices.
The machine sets the standard with regard tomechanical construction andease of operation. The con -sistent use of servo motors incombination with state-of-the-art control and regulationtechnology ensures precisesetting of distances andspeeds.
Storage of all productionparameters is one of thebenefits of the HSA 50 d. Upto 40 programs can be sto-red in the control unit. Oper -ating panels on forming andsealing units facilitate thesetting and start-up of themachine, this is an advan-t age especially for longmachine lines.
A higher feed accuracy isachieved by the servo-motortransport drive, resulting inhigher cutting accuracy ofthe blister caps. Blisters areplaced into the sealing pallets by even and vibra -tion-free movements of theoptimized blister transfersystem.
The machine is of modularconstruction and connectedby Profibus systems.Relocation or retrofitting ofadditional elements, such ascard loading or feeding de -vices is possible at each rel -evant machine location. Withthis general-purpose modularsystem the customer canproduce various packs in avery flexible way. Extensionsto attach labelling devices orcoding units can be installedafter the sealing station with-out problem.
The servo-motor driven sealing pallet transport canbe variably set and ensuresindexing with positionalaccuracy.
The modular elements are connectedby BUS systems. Additional units can be used depending on packingspecifications.
Soft carton material can alsobe processed since theupper and lower table of thesealing station are movable.Attachment of the sealingtool to the sealing heaterimproves heat transition fromthe heater to the sealingelectrode thus also reducingenergy consumption.
Improved product quality by using advancedmachine equipment.

ILLIG quick-change technology
pallet quick-change without tooling
HSA 50d with thermoforming unit, card loading device, sealing stationand pack lift-out device
With the tool system all format parts can be changed for thefirst time very fast without using any additional tooling.
Double production outputwith cutting/spreadingdevice
If the packaging formats canbe arranged in two rows on asealing pallet, the output ofthe machine is doubled. Theblisters formed in the doublecavities are separated intosingle cavities and during thetransposing movement theyare spread to the sealingdimension of the pallet.
Double-card blister packs
A blister transposer with cardloading device is required toproduce cleanly separablepacks. This transposer po -sitions the blister cap into thewindow card. After filling, afurther card loading deviceputs on the backing cardswhich are sealed with thewindow cards. The blister
cap remains unsealed andconsequently can be easilyseparated from the card.
Stand-up blister packs
For alternative presentation, blisters are equipped with afoot. During the movement ofthe pre-stretching plug thefoot is formed to the blistercap with an additional crossmovement in the upper toolpart.
Production of all-cardblisters with cardboardforming unit
Pre-punched card blanks arepositioned into the formingtool from a card magazine. After forming, they are trans-ferred into the sealing pallets. The cardboard forming unitcan be placed anywhere onthe pallet conveyor.

Packs for high-quality products call for specificsolutions. Our machine linesand process technologiesset the standard for flexibleand economic production.
Product-oriented packagingsystems are composed ofelements from a comprehen-sive standard program. Suchcustom-made systems resultin market advantages especially when short deliverytimes and high quality specifi -cations are concerned.
Smooth operation is ensuredby testing and delivery of allindividual components fromone source. This also appliesto sophisticated machinelines. Performance and speedof the individual modular ele-ments have to be optimallysynchronized.
The various functions areconnected by sensors orBUS-systems.

The set data can be storedand they are available rightaway for repeat orders. Allmajor operation data arecontinuously available tocheck the ongoing produc-tion.
Due to a modular guardingsystem, many devices can beplaced in freely selectableorder, one after the other orseparately on the pallettransport.
Findings from processengineering and applicationtechnology combined withcomprehensive material knowledge result in an optimum machine programincorporating the parametersfor forming, sealing and endpacking.
The HSA 50d sets the stand -ard when it comes to thedemand for easy operation. The reproducibility ofproduc tion data is a majorelement for maximum avail -ability especially for highautomation levels and frequent product changes. All relevant process data areentered on the operatingpanel and displayed as setpoint/actual comparison.
