Bio-Diesel= a non-petroleum-based Bio-Diesel= a non-petroleum-based dieseldiesel fuel consisting of short chain fuel consisting of short chain alkylalkyl ( (methylmethyl or or ethylethyl) esters, made by ) esters, made by transesterification of vegetable oil or transesterification of vegetable oil or animal fat (tallow), which can be used animal fat (tallow), which can be used (alone, or blended with conventional (alone, or blended with conventional petrodiesel) in unmodified diesel-engine petrodiesel) in unmodified diesel-engine vehicles.vehicles.

Depending on the process, the reaction Depending on the process, the reaction takes one hour. Then the biodiesel must takes one hour. Then the biodiesel must sit for 8 hrs (unless a centrifuge is used to sit for 8 hrs (unless a centrifuge is used to separate the glycerine from the biodiesel).separate the glycerine from the biodiesel).

Is Biodiesel good for my engine?   Yes. It's a better lubricator than petro-diesel and tends to be a better cleaning agent for your fuel system. It also has a higher Cetane rating, which means it's a better fuel. Biodiesel is not compatible with ordinary rubber. If your fuel system has rubber fittings they can be replaced with Viton to counter this, However, most modern Diesel engines do not use rubber fittings anymore.
