Fall 2013 Bentgrass Apron Extensions are Complete

• Holes #1, #5, #6, #9, #11, #12, #14 and #15 are complete

• Holes #2, #3, #4, #7, #8, #10 and #16 are on the schedule for the fall of 2014

Purpose of the Project

• Improve playability and turf quality in areas that have a higher volume of water flow and are in a close proximity of the green

• Reduce turf stress and wear from large maintenance equipment used in small, tight bottle-necked areas

7 Steps of Apron Turfgrass Conversion from perennial ryegrass to creeping bentgrass

Strip and remove existing perennial ryegrass turf. Re-use or relocate perennial ryegrass to other areas of the golf course

Perennial ryegrass relocated from bentgrass apron extension areas to Nursery Green surround

Core aerify bentgrass apron extension

Add compost to aerified area to improve soil structure

Lay new bentgrass sod

Roll new sod for good soil contact and to smooth the area

Add sand topdressing to fill seams, insulate turf and to smooth the playing surface

#6 bentgrass apron completedAs a reminder, these areas are a mandatory drop. If your ball comes to rest in these areas, please carefully remove and take a drop. Signs have been placed in these areas stating the mandatory drop and ropes have been placed around these areas to minimize foot traffic
