Beirut Chants is an annual festival that takes place on the evenings of the 1st to 23rd December in the historical churches of the central district of Beirut and its surroundings. Celebrating Christmas, the Festival attracts large crowds, in excess of 20,000 persons from all over Lebanon. The Beirut Chants program includes choral, sacred music, chamber and philharmonic orchestra performances and appearances by international soloists. For 23 evenings, Beirut Chants revives spiritual and ethnic musical traditions about the Nativity. Various national and international artists have collaborated on the Festival lineup such as La Scala, Notre Dame University Choir, The Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, Abeer Nehme, Jeff Cohen and Abdel Rahman el Bacha. The 2015 Beirut Chants seventh season brings in established and emerging Lebanese and international artists will spread musical traditions, sharing the festive spirit in the many beautiful and historical churches.
