But it was announced as a six-year, $18.5 million deal because it's possible Boulware can get $6.5 million the final year. It's not likely, though. The deal has a $1.2 million option in the final year plus $4.3 million if he makes one Pro Bowl, $4.5 million if makes two Pro Bowls and a maximum $5.3 million if he makes three Pro Bowls… Boulware's agent, Eugene Parker, didn't even get any of the $6 million signing bonus for him immediately upon Boulware's signing. The first $1.5 million comes due Sept. 15, with the next $1.5 million due on Oct. 15.
Len Pasquarelli, ESPN: Boulware two weeks ago signed a seven-year, $42 million contract with a $13.5 million signing bonus.
Mike Florio, PFT: Boulware signed with the Ravens a five-year, $10.4 million contract, which paid him a $1.3 million signing bonus and provides for salaries of $700,000 in 2005, $2.1 million in 2006, $2.2 million in 2007, $2.3 million in 2008, and $2.5 million in 2009…

Adam Caplan, Scout.com: Flacco would receive $200,000 for each playoff victory. But he's also set to make an additional $750,000 with 80 percent of the offensive snaps this season (will be achieved once he starts and finishes this week's game).
James Walker, ESPN: Flacco recently eclipsed a huge playing-time escalator in his contract of participating in 80 percent of Baltimore's snaps as a rookie. He will have $750,000 added to his base salary in the remaining four years of his contract. Flacco also could earn $200,000 this year for each postseason victory.
Brian McIntyre, MacsFootballBlog.com: Flacco has two years remaining on a five-year, $29.75 million rookie contract… Flacco is currently scheduled to earn base salaries of $2.785 million in 2011 and $3.11 million in 2012. $5.895 million over two seasons would be a bargain for a franchise quarterback, but according to a source with access to the finer details of Flacco's contract, those figures will be increasing.
Flacco's playing time in 2010 will add $1.5 million to each year's salary, with his 2011 rate increasing by an additional $200,000 via Sunday's playoff win over the Chiefs. With each playoff game the Ravens win, another $200,000 will be tacked onto Flacco's salary the following season. As long as the 6-6, 240-pound Flacco continues to take nearly all of the team's snaps, his 2012 salary will increase by an additional $1.95 million, putting his 2011-12 base salary total at slightly over $11 million. Through individual regular season performances, Pro Bowl nods, and the Ravens' performances in the next two post-seasons, Flacco can further increase his base salaries by nearly $2.5 million.
Aaron Wilson, Baltimore Sun: Now that Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco's $120.6 million contract has been filed, here's a full breakdown of the deal that makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history. The Super Bowl Most Valuable Player received a $29 million signing bonus and option bonuses of $15 million and $7 million. In 2013, he gets a fully guaranteed base salary of $1 million for a total first-year compensation of $30 million and a salary-cap figure of $6.8 million. In 2014, Flacco has a $6 million base salary that's guaranteed for injury only. His salary-cap figure is $14.8 million in the second year of the deal. In 2015, Flacco gets a $4 million base salary that's guaranteed for injury only. His salary-cap figure is $14.55 million. In 2016, the salary cap figure inflates to $28.55 million primarily due to an $18 million base salaryw with $12 million of that guaranteed for injury only although that guaranteed portion reduces to $3 million with the first option of $15 million is exercised and voids when the second option of $7 million is exercised.
The deal effectively operates as a three-year, $62 million pact since the contract is likely to be restructured after three years. Here's the remainder of the deal, which is expected to be adjusted. In 2017, Flacco has a $20.6 million base salary and a $31.15 million salary-cap figure. In 2018, Flacco has a $20 million base salary and a $24.75 million salary-cap figure.

Len Pasquarelli, ESPN: The final pick in the first round in 2001, tight end Todd Heap of the Baltimore Ravens, signed a five-year, $6.125 million contract with a signing bonus of $2.3 million.
Aaron Wilson, Scout.com: Under the language contained in Baltimore Ravens tight end Todd Heap's landmark $30 million contract, his base salary was reduced to the league minimum for the next two years as part of his six-year extension that included $11 million in bonus money… Heap was owed a $2.52 million base salary for 2005, which has now been reduced to $540,000. In a split-tier signing bonus that has become popular in most of the Ravens' major player deals, Heap initially received $4 million upon signing his contract and is set to receive $7 million in a 2006 roster bonus. Including the bonus money, Heap's total compensation for the next two years is $12.1 million as he is slated to make $560,000 for his 2006 base salary. He's projected to earn $14.8 million over the first three years of the contract. Heap's base salaries rise significantly after the first two years of the deal as he'll earn $2.7 million in 2007. Heap is slated to earn $3 million in 2008, $3.6 million in 2009, $4 million in 2010 and $4.6 million in 2011. Mike Preston, Baltimore Sun: Lewis' five-year deal includes a $1.3 million signing bonus and base salaries for the next five years of $450,000, $562,000, $675,000, $775,000 and $890,000… Lewis also will have $100,000 a year in incentive bonuses that won't count against the salary cap.
Jamison Hensley, Baltimore Sun: Although Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis set the league record with his $19 million signing bonus, he did not rake in the entire bonus up front. According to the contract filed recently, he will collect $10 million this year and will receive $9 million as a signing option in March that triggers the final five seasons on his seven-year, $48.5 million deal. His base salaries are: $525,000 (2002); $975,000 (2003); $4 million (2004); $5.5 million (2005 and 2006 each); $6.5 million (2007 and 2008 each). His salary cap hits take a big jump every season, starting at $5.67 million in 2002 and escalating to $9.428 million in both 2007 and 2008.
Jason Cole, Yahoo Sports: what has been reported as a three-year, $22 million contract is actually a convoluted seven-year contract with $15.5 million guaranteed, according to one source each from the team and the NFL Players Association.
According to the sources, who have seen Lewis' contract, the deal is actually a complicated version of accounting designed to pay Lewis $10 million in the first year of the team. That breakdown is a $6.25 million signing bonus, a $2.75 million roster bonus and a $1 million base salary for the 2009 season.
The Ravens then have two "options" to exercise in the 2010 and 2011 seasons. If the Ravens pick up the 2010 option, they must pay Lewis $1.25 million as an option bonus. He then makes $4.25 million in base salary. In 2011, the second option bonus would pay Lewis a $2 million bonus and a base salary of $4.5 million.
JI Halsell, FO: It is important to recognize, however, that of the $14.3 million guaranteed, $4.3 million is guaranteed only for injury, meaning if the Ravens were to terminate Lewis due to skill, he would only be entitled to $10 million. In year two of Lewis' contract, the Ravens have the right to exercise an option that would pay Lewis a $1.25 million option bonus; however, if the Ravens elect to not exercise this option, they would owe Lewis a $3.25 million non-exercise fee, as the Lewis contract also contains a $2 million option bonus in year three. Therefore, if the Ravens do not exercise the option, Lewis gets the full $3.25 million in year two instead of potentially receiving it over years two and three.

Len Pasquarelli, ESPN: The contract signed by quarterback Steve McNair with the Baltimore Ravens is for five years with a maximum value of $32 million, but from a practical standpoint, the deal for the former Tennessee Titans star is structured more as a three-year contract that will pay him $20 million… McNair will receive a payment of $11 million, which is characterized in the documents as a "roster" bonus and not a "signing" bonus, on Sept. 1. His base salary for 2006, as previously reported, is $1 million. That gives McNair a cap charge of $3.2 million for the 2006 season… The Ravens owe McNair a $1 million option bonus next spring and his base salaries rise to $3 million for 2007 and to $4 million for 2008… The contract calls for base salaries of $6 million each in 2009 and 2010, and cap hits of $8.45 million apiece for those seasons.

Aaron Wilson, Scout.com: He can earn a playing time bonus of $1.6 million on a one-time basis if he plays in either 35 percent of the defensive snaps this season or 45 percent in 2007.
Andrew Brandt, NFP: Ngata will receive a $25 million signing bonus payable as follows: $9 million upon signing; $9 million over the remaining 15 weeks of the season; and $7 million in March. As signing bonuses go, this is very good cash flow. Ngata's salary is $2.1 million. Thus, instead of one-year Franchise tag earnings of $12.5 million, Ngata will earn $27.1 million, all paid by March of 2012.
2012: $12.9 million There is an option bonus of $10 million exercisable at the start of the 2012 League Year in March. Until that option is exercised, $10 million of salaries are guaranteed for injury only. Those guarantees dissolve upon exercise of the option. As with any option bonus –
including that of Peyton Manning – the team can release the player prior to the option date. Thus, there is a chance – however remote – that the Ravens do not pick up the option on Ngata. In that case, they would have paid Ngata $27.1 million for one year – instead of the $12.5 million he was scheduled to make – and made him a free agent. Ngata's 2012 salary is a nonguaranteed $2.9 million, the only amount of the first two years without a guarantee.
Rest of the deal (nonguaranteed): 2013: $4 million 2014: $8.5 million 2015: $8.5 million
Thus, here are the numbers: Total value: $61 million Guarantee: $37.1 million Average per year: $12.2 million

Vito Stellino, Baltimore Sun: Ogden, the fourth player picked in the 1996 NFL draft, by the Ravens, got the highest signing bonus -- $6,793,997… Ogden also got voidable years in his contract. That means he can void his seven-year contract after three years, and the Ravens must give him a bonus of $825,000 to keep him a fourth year and $1,325,000 for a fifth year. He can then void his contract again and become a free agent after five years. The base salaries in Ogden's second and third years ($882,500 and $1,059,000) are guaranteed.
Vito Stellino, Baltimore Sun: Sign. bonus .. $6,793,997; Year 1 ....... $706,000; Year 2 ....... $882,500; Year 3 ....... $1,059,000; Year 4 ....... $1,235,500; Year 5 ....... $1,412,000; Year 6 ....... $1,588,500; Year 7 ....... $1,765,000… The deal voids after three years, and the Ravens can buy back for a $1.325 million bonus. That would increase the fifth, sixth and seventh years to the franchise number (the average of the league's five highest-paid linemen). The deal has injury guarantees in the second and third years, and 50 percent of the fifth year franchise number and 100 per cent of the sixth and seventh are guaranteed.
John Czarnecki: Jonathan Ogden, an All-Pro offensive tackle for the past four seasons, has agreed in principle to a new six-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens worth an inflated $50 million, a league source said. Ogden, who is currently in his ninth pro season, most likely will earn $34 million over the next four seasons, or $8.5 million a season, tops in the NFL.
Aaron Wilson, Scout.com: Since the season ended, the Ravens exercised a mechanism in Ogden’s contract that guarantees his $6 million base salary [in 2007].

A consensus All-American from Ole Miss, Oher receives a $940,000 roster bonus this year. And the 23rd overall pick of the NFL Draft is due a $4.7 million option bonus next March.
Aaron Wilson, Carrol County Times: he officially signed a five-year contract with a total maximum value of $13.795 million. For Oher, whose guaranteed money of $6.88 million plus his playing-time incentive clause adds up to a total of $7.82 million following a holdout of two days, the contract stamps a major milestone in his winding life journey.
Aaron Wilson, Ravens 24x7: Oher is intent on justifying the Ravens' investment of a $940,000 roster bonus this year and a $4.68 million option bonus next March.

Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland Plain Dealer: Perry's base salary for 1995 under his Browns contract would have been $2.58 million, and with bonuses added in he would have counted for $3.2 million against the salary cap. Aaron Wilson, Carroll County Times: Rice climbed into his white Mercedes and drove out of the Baltimore Ravens’ parking lot Monday afternoon to celebrate after signing his five-year, $40 million maximum value contract that includes a $15 million signing bonus… Rice is due $17 million in his first year with a $2 million base salary and $25 million to be paid in the first two years. That includes a $7 million option bonus next year and a $1 million base salary. The deal includes a $5 million escalator clause.
Mike Florio, PFT: Rice receives a $15 million signing bonus on his new five-year deal, along with a non-guaranteed base salary of $2 million in 2012… Next year, a $7 million option bonus is due in March, with a $1 million base salary. The option bonus is guaranteed for injury… The deal also includes a $5 million one-time incentive/escalator. If he reaches specific rushing/receiving targets in any of the first three years of the deal, and if the team finishes in the top 10 in total offense, Rice receives a $1 million incentive in he year he accomplishes the feat — and another $4 million is spread over the remaining years of the deal. For example, if Rice hits the trigger in 2012, he’ll add $1 million to his $17 million haul, and another $1 million per year to the balance of the deal. If he does it in 2014, he gets $1 million then plus $2 million in each of the final two years of the deal.
Aaron Wilson, NFP: the Ravens and former star running back Ray Rice reached a settlement on his wrongful termination grievance in January… The sides wound up settling for $1.588 million, according to sources. Rice was seeking back pay from his $3.529 million base salary for the 2014 season… The Ravens were holding $1.44 million against the salary cap since the grievance was filed.

Todd Jacobson, Washington Post: Suggs, the 10th overall pick in April's draft out of Arizona State, signed a five-year deal with the Ravens tonight that could be worth up to $15.09 million by the end of the contract… [it] includes $6.25 million in guaranteed bonuses, $1.1 million in first-year base salary, and a playing-time bonus of $1.05 million that kicks in if Suggs plays 35
percent of the Ravens' snaps this season… He could earn up to $8.4 million during his first season. The deal also includes an escalator clause in the fifth year worth $5 million.
Mike Florio, PFT: A league source tells us that Suggs deal is actually worth "only" $62.5 million over six years. Suggs also will receive $38 guaranteed.
Mike Florio, PFT: In year one, Suggs gets $15.1 million and Haynesworth gets $11 million.Through two years, Suggs gets $40 million and Haynesworth receives $35.6 million. After three, Suggs will have pocketed $43.4 million, with Haynesworth only (only?) getting $41 million. And after four seasons, Suggs will end up with $200,000 more than Haynesworth -- $48.3 million versus $48.1 million.
Jeff Zrebiec, Baltimore Sun: The official compromise came Monday in the form of a four-year, $28.5 million contract extension… The new contract, which extends through 2018, includes an $11 million signing bonus and $16 million in guaranteed money…
Aaron Wilson, NFP: The Ravens converted Suggs' $4 million base salary for 2015 into a $3 million bonus and lowered his base salary to $1 million for this year. That creates $2.25 million in salary-cap space. His salary-cap figure for this year will go down from $6.2 million to $3.95 million. It will raise Suggs' salary-cap figure to $7.45 million in 2016 and $6.95 million in 2017 and 2018.

Tony Grossi, Cleveland Plain Dealer: Testaverde's new, $24 million contract appears to be slanted in the Browns' favor. Testaverde received a $500,000 signing bonus and yearly salaries of $2.5 million in 1994, $3 million in 1995 and 1996, $4 million in 1997, $5 million in 1998 and $6 million in 1999.
Mike Preston, Baltimore Sun: the Ravens had restructured the final three years of Testaverde's old contract to a new four-year deal that will pay him as much as $8 million over the next two seasons, including a $2.5 million signing bonus. Testaverde, 33, will make $1.5 million in base salary for 1997, $4 million in 1998 ($1.5 million guaranteed), $5 million in 1999 and $6 million in 2000. Testaverde's old contract would have paid him base salaries of $1.5 million for 1997, $5 million for 1998 and $6 million in 1999. The major differences in the contracts are the added year and the guaranteed total of $5.5 million through the 1998 season, including the signing bonus. The Ravens will save nearly $1 million against the salary cap for both the 1998 and 1999 seasons. According to league sources, Testaverde also has two incentive clauses that include $500,000 if the Ravens reach the AFC championship game, and another $500,000 if the team plays in a Super Bowl.
