"What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of
inelegance." - Jane Austen
What a wonderful thing it is that we can enjoy this hot, Cape Cod summer without the need to be formal and elegant…unless, of course, we want to. We can join Jane Austen in her “inelegance,” and revel in it, whether it’s at our upcoming beach party, lobster roll cruise, or just Friday morning kayaking. If we want to be a little more formal, than we can dress up a bit for our upcoming wine and cheese. Whichever you choose, join us as we create summer memories at events like the following:
WHAT: A Beach Party WHEN: 7 PM, August 14 WHERE: At the home of John & Karen Juros, 91 Cranberry Trail, Sandwich
Bring an appetizer or dessert and BYOB. Call Karen or John at 508-362-2636 or email them at kjuros@comcast.net if you plan to join the fun. RSVP by August 7.
AUGUST EVENTS
Our beach party brings music, a bonfire, good food and old
fashioned fun, but the month starts with a Lobster Roll Cruise.

LOBSTER ROLL CRUISE
On August 1, we’re heading
out of Sesuit Harbor in Dennis,
a repeat of last year’s popular
1.5-hour cruise. Boarding
begins at 11:30 AM for the $27
per-person event.
For those who missed
reserving a spot, a number of
Newcomers who can’t make the
August 1 cruise because they’ll
be at the Pops are booking for
the lunchtime cruise on August
8. Reservation for that cruise
can be made at 508.385.1686.
Call Margo Mancinelli for
further updates.
Last year’s cruise was well-attended!

AUGUST BRUNCH-IN
Join us on Thursday, August 26, at 11 AM at the 91 Cranberry Trail home
of co-president Karen Juros. Call Karen at 508-362-2636 to confirm that
you’ll come and tell her what you will be bringing.
CHANGES, CHANGES, CHANGES
With our new board, and co-presidents Karen and John Juros, come some changes. First and foremost, our current membership list gives the
impression that this is a women’s club; when couples are listed, the women
come first, with the men appended as a “second” member. That’s changing,
along with the updating of the website.
DUES: the board also approved a change in the existing dues structure.
Dues will be $15 per person, eliminating the former “couples discount.”
Those couples who recently paid $25 will not have to pay an increase. The
new rate is effective now, with the renewal of dues coming up in September.

The board is always looking for ways to cut costs, including the possibility of scheduling our October General Meeting at the newly reopened Sandwich City Hall. That venue will be free to Sandwich organizations during the month of October, and Bill Daley is hoping for to make it a special occasion by offering a program in collaboration with Titcomb’s bookshop. That meeting will be just one of some very special events planned for the future:
