KUWAIT CITY, May 4,(KUNA): KuwaitPetroleum Corporation’s(KPC) participation in thesix-month long ExpoMilano 2015 offers a gold-en chance to show theworld the development ofthe oil sector in Kuwait,KPC Deputy ManagingDirector for Relations andIT Sheikh Faisal Al-JaberAl-Sabah has said.

The world will get furtheracquainted with the remarkableprogress of the oil industry inKuwait, as well as the positivesteps to protect the environ-ment and realize sustainabledevelopment, Sheikh Faisaladded in a press statement onMonday.

Taking part in Expo Milano2015 aims at enhancing theCorporation’s presence on theworld scene through reviewingthe substantial progress by theKuwaiti oil industry, in additionto its contributions regardingsocial responsibility to achievesustainable development,Director of Public and MediaRelations at KPC Jamal Sanousisaid.

Kuwait is partaking in ExpoMilano 2015 that kicked off onFriday through a huge delegationrepresenting almost all the stateinstitutions.

advanced genuine development ineconomic, development, socialand cultural domains,” saidSheikh Salman in a speech at theopening of the pavilion.” TheExpo was inaugurated on Fridayby the Italian Prime Minister,with the participation of largeworld dignitaries includingSheikh Salman.

Representatives of 145 countriesare in Milan for the fair, whichboasts 54 national pavilions andremains open until Oct 31.

The major global gathering hasbeen held every five years sincethe 19th century.

Meanwhile, designer of theBarayeh housing city engineerFaisal Al-Juhaym has highlight-ed the backing of His Highnessthe Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to theproject.

In a lecture at the Kuwaiti pavil-

ion in Expo Milano 2015, Al-Juhaym stressed His Highness theAmir’s support to Kuwaiti youthto take part in building the futureof their country.

Al-Juhaym expressed pride thathe is participating in the six-monthglobal event that kicked off onMay 1.

Referring to his project, henoted through Barayeh he is seek-ing to “make a difference for thegood of the Kuwaiti societythrough improving the quality oflife and challenging the hardnature.” Al-Juhaym said heinspired the project from Kuwaitiancestors, saying the old Kuwaitcity was built on two main basis,safe environment and job opportu-nities.

Barayeh in Arabic is the openarea in Kuwait in the past wherefamily members and children inparticular used to gather, offering

the nucleus of social communica-tion.

The total area of the city is 35million square kms.

KUNA & Italy’s ANSA signmedia cooperation accordROME, May 4, (KUNA): The Kuwait NewsAgency (KUNA) and the Italian ANSA onMonday signed a wide-range cooperationagreement, re-launching joint work by both andoutlining further prospects of development thatrange from sharing news and multimedia prod-ucts to technology.

KUNA Chairman and Director GeneralSheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabahand CEO and Managing Director of ANSAGiuseppe Cerbone signed the agreement.

The signing ceremony was attended byKuwaiti Minister of Information and Ministerof State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman SabahSalem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah who is on an offi-cial visit to Italy for Expo Milano 2015, andKuwait’s Ambassador in Rome Sheikh AliKhaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Lauding the accord, Sheikh Salman said hehoped it would contribute to promoting theKUNA’s performance, especially on newsexchange, developing the editorial sector andpresence overseas, benefiting from ANSA’sexperience and long history, established in 1939.

In a statement to KUNA, the Minister saidthat the Kuwait News Agency could also useexperts from ANSA to upgrade its technicalperformance. In the meantime, the Italianagency would benefit from the accord toexpand in the region.

Sheikh Salman highlighted the “fruitful” lastvisit by His Highness the Prime MinisterSheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabahto Italy and the agreements concluded during it,especially cultural and media ones.

He hoped that the KUNA-ANSA accordwould help achieve a quantum leap in theKuwaiti agency, by efforts of Chairman andDirector General Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah, and the whole staff.

For his part, Sheikh Mubarak noted thatcooperation between the two agencies datesback to more than two decades, referring to the

bilateral memorandum of understanding(MoU) signed in 2007 to establish the firststrategic partnership of its kind between Araband European news agencies.

Today’s agreement will organize exchange ofnews, photos and data, as well as facilitatingmissions by correspondents of each agency, giv-ing priority to coverage of national occasionsand state officials’ visits, Sheikh Mubarak said.

He invited ANSA’s CEO and ManagingDirector Giuseppe Cerbone to visit Kuwait tocomplete the executive details of the accord,and explore more prospects of cooperation.

“The accord with KUNA, which renewsagreements already in place for several years,boosts our international presence. And we wantto be operational with immediate effect,”Cerbone said.

“With this agreement we want to strengthenour presence in the Gulf region, where there isan economic interest, due to the Italian compa-nies that invest there, as well as a politicalone,” he added.

During the signing ceremony today, KUNADeputy Director General for the Editorial SectorSaad Al-Ali and ANSA Editor-in-Chief LuigiContu, reviewed the activities of the two agencies,professional policies and plans, in addition tomeans of bolstering bilateral media partnership.

The ceremony was attended by KUNAPublic Relations and Marketing DirectorEssam Al-Ruwayeh, and officials fromKuwait’s Ministry of Information and theNational Council for Culture, Arts andLiterature (NCCAL).

On Saturday, Sheikh Salman in his capacityas Representative of His Highness the PrimeMinister, opened the Kuwaiti pavilion,“Challenge of Nature”, at Expo Milano 2015.

The Expo was inaugurated on Friday by theItalian Prime Minister, with the participation oflarge world dignitaries including SheikhSalman.
