What does the word «ANZAC» mean?

This word is made from the initials of: Australian and New Zeland Army Corps.

What’s ANZAC Day?

ANZAC Day is a commemoration to remember the Austalian soldiers who fought in a lot of wars, for example the First and the Second World Wars

When is this holiday?

ANZAC Day is on 25 of April, but if the 25 is on Sunday, this holiday is celebrated on Monday.

How is this holiday celebrated?

During this holiday, there are meetings of veterans and people can play «two-up», an Australian gamble, because ANZAC’s soldiers played it

Football and rugby matches! In Australia, a week before ANZAC Day, there are a lot of

football and rugby matches. A medal is given to the football player who represents this holiday.

Lest we forget

ANZAC Day’s got a symbol too: poppies. These flowers are the symbol of this holiday because they’re red like the soldier’s blood who died during the wars.
