Here is an exceptional
biodiversity
of landscapes, ecological
systems and
habitats with a high level of
endemism.
A great many endemic
species , Tertiary and glacial
relicts including some pre-
Tertiary relicts in the central
Dinaric area, with some
endemic species limited to
the Tomislavgrad
Area, particulary cave fauna.
Further research is
imperative, from the karstic
phenomena to the mapping
of habitats, systematic
inventorying and analysis of
individual taxonomical
groups and the bionomics
of individual taxa.
The monograph gives an
extensive synthesis of all
fields of the natural
history sciences for one of
the ecologically most
important regions in
Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It will be an important
source of information and
education for the
inhabitants of the region
and future generations.
Finally,
‘The Monograph of
the Natural-history
Heritage of
Tomislavgrad’
represents an
example for the
promotion of nature
conservation and will
give us the direction
for further research
and the protection of
Duvanjsko and
Livanjsko polje.
