• Have you ever thought that there are a lot of connections between ROMA-ROMA(NIA)?

• It might not be just a simple writing coincidence…

• Let me make you a short introduction!

Belonging to Latinity• For sure you know that Rome was

founded by its first ruler, Romulus. The legend says he and his brother, Remus were abandoned and discovered and fed by a she-wolf.

• The image of the she-wolf and the two small children represents the symbol of latinity.

• You can find a lot of these statues all over Romania!

The origin of becoming “Latin”

• Before being conquered by the Romans, there were the Dacians who were living on our country’s teritory.

After a long period of battles, Dacia was annexed to the Roman Empire, becoming one of its province.

• Is Trajan’s Column familiar for you?

• It is a Roman triumphal column in Rome that commemorates Roman emperor Trajan’s victory in the Dacian Wars (the Dacians are the ancestors of the Romanian people).

The story of Badea Cârţan

• A good exemple that everything is possible is the shepherd Badea Cârţan. He’s the Romanian who made in 1896 a journey of 2.000km on foot to Rome. When he arrived in the city after 45 days, the local people were saying ”Look a Dacian has fallen off the column!”.

Badea Cârţan was dressed just like the Dacians from the column.

The Christian connection

• Our countries are Catholic and Orthodox, transforming their love of God into arhitectural masterpieces !
