AIESEC COLOMBO SOUTH
AIESEC CS started in 1995 with the commencing of AIESEC Sri Lanka and it is
continually growing day by day in quantity as well as in quality that is evident by
the average number of 150+ members and the average number of 170+
exchanges per year.
Global Community Development Programme
GCDP programme is operated in hand with the engaging youth worldwide to
make a positive impact on the society with the increase of cultural
understanding, networking and by working on issued-based projects overseas.
By joining GCDP u will be able to make Personal Development (Learning to be
more flexible, open-minded and proactive), International connections, Cultural
engagement to experience the collaborative support system.
HODIYA
Hodiya will be initiated with 15 interns and the main objective of this is to see a gradual improvement of Preschools in Sri Lanka. Interns will be teaching pre-schoolers English and at the end of the project Interns will have to do a gap analysis and submit a report on the things they have observed and the preschools will be implementing the best suggestion given by them. The project is expected reach more children this year and is expected to start in January and go on for a period of 6 weeks.
FUEGOSTICKA
Being in a Technical era, CS GCDP hopes to provide Sri Lankan young generation a whole new experience or else a unique opportunity to experience games with the latest technology. So with that in mind we are trying to widen the knowledge of Game Development in students and drive them towards a technically competent world. This project will have six weeks and 15 Interns will be joining us with this venture. Project is expected to start in January.
YEP Youth Empowerment Session
YEP was implemented by a team of undergraduates from Higher Education Institutes in Sri Lanka with the objective of enhancing the skills and the knowledge in order to strengthen the cultural relationship and International Exposure through the AIESEC Program. The duration of the project will be 6 week with interns from across the globe participating in it. What we are planning to do in this project, to deliver sessions for a selected group of undergraduates. The project will be conducted this year on a wider scale covering more institutes and reaching out to more undergraduates and is expected to start in mid-February.
Feel Lanka
The goal of this project is to promote Sri Lankan
Tourism Industry and also to promote Hospitality
Service industry among the tourists. The project will
be done with 13 intern from around the globe with an
interactive theme and is expected to be start in the
mid of December.
Gurugedara
Project "Gurugedara" was initiated by AIESEC Colombo South in order to enhance knowledge in English and Information Technology in local students. Interns will engage in a traineeship in Sri Lanka for 6 to 8 weeks in teaching students English and basic IT who are in the ages of 8-14 years and this will create a unique learning environment for the local students. Last year this project was implemented in more than 50 schools around Sri Lanka and more than 80 interns have involved since then. The project will be based on two
phases covering two different areas of
the country and is expected to start in
January.
The ART project Purpose of the project is to promote traditional arts to the globe and inspire
local and foreign designing students to incorporate such elements in future
projects.
Number of workshops and sessions will be delivered
for designing students throughout the project.
Project events will be managed by interns and they
will get a chance to explore traditional arts of
thousands of years old civilization. Project is
expected to start at the end of July.
Ripple Effect
Ripple Effect is the major community project which will organized by AIESEC Colombo South with the vision of enhancing the lives of Sri Lankan underdeveloped communities. This project mainly will focus on identifying problems in rural areas and finding solutions, educating children on health problems, interacting with local communities, organizing events for disabled soldiers and organizing campaigns to find the solutions to identified problems. The project is expected to start in December and go on for a period of 6 weeks.

Tune of Harmony
Covering the Issue Segment of Cultural Understating, Tune of Harmony aims to
make the ultimate song of world peace. We will be forming a music group
consisting of young interns from around the globe who will work with renowned
local artists, and will be assigned the task to compose and sing the ultimate
song of world peace. They will also produce a suitable video for the song and an
AIESEC dance for the song which
would be performed at the event
of public release of the music
video.
Number of interns will be joining us in this venture, and the project is expected to start in January and go on for a period of 6 weeks.
SWITCH off
Switch off is an awareness creation campaign for the importance of conserving electricity. Interns will be conducting session and workshops to the public on the need for conservation of energy and how it can be done. Also a fund raiser will be organized by the interns to raise money to be contributed to the cause of enabling a remote village to gain access to electricity. The project will start in January and number of interns will be joining the project along with a team of undergraduates.
Heal a Nation
Project Heal a Nation will be involved in creating awareness campaigns and conducting sessions to local undergraduates and students on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. Identifying the current cultural barriers in the country and the need for awareness on SRHR, heal a nation will reach the public in a more effective way and will aim to create a documentary to be used further in the cause. The project will be for 6 weeks and will start in December and number of interns will be joining us in the project.
European College of English This is a community project of Colombo South and the interns will be assisting and encouraging underprivileged students to understand and learn English through classroom lessons. Creative and interactive sessions will be organized by the interns to engage the students in the learning process effectively and also to improve their communication, presentation and team working abilities. Also the interns will be working with externals in organizing cultural events and training sessions and will be evaluating students and giving them feedback. This project is available throughout the year and will go on for a period of Six weeks from the date of starting.
Radicalz
Interns will be working with an external entity and will assist local start-up
entrepreneurs in setting up their business and giving them basic guidance and
information. Interns would also be doing promotions of the cause both virtually
and physically and will be expected to meet company personal and encouraging
them to assist the local start-up entrepreneurs. Also content writing on behalf
of the promotions for the project will be done periodically and the intern will be
working closely with a creative production team in getting the message across
to the locals. The project is available throughout the year and will go on for a
period of Six weeks from the date of starting.
