CEREALSCereal is a grass (members of the

monocot family Poaceae, (also known as true grasses) cultivated for the edible components of their grain

(botanically, a type of fruit called a caryopsis), composed of the endosperm, germ, and bran.

VEGETABLES & MELONSIn culinary terms, a vegetable is an edible

plant or its part, intended for cooking or eating raw. In biological terms, "vegetable"

designates members of the plant kingdom. This list of melons includes members of the

plant family Cucurbitaceous with edible, fleshy fruit (e.g. gourds or cucurbits). The word "melon" can refer to either the plant or specifically to the fruit. Many different

cultivars have been produced, particularly of muskmelons. Although the melon is a

botanical fruit (specifically, a berry), some varieties may be considered culinary

vegetables rather than fruits.

ROOTS & TUBERTubers are various types of modified plant

structures that are enlarged to store nutrients. They are used by plants to survive the winter or dry months, to provide energy and nutrients for re-growth during the next growing season. In vascular plants(higher plants), the root is the organ of a plant that typically lies below the surface of the soil. However, this is not always the case, a root can also be aerial (growing above the ground) or aerating (growing up above the ground or especially above water).

ROOT

TUBER

The sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant that contains seed and can be eaten as food.

FRUIT

OILSuch oils have been part of human culture for millennia.

Edible vegetable oils are used in food, both in cooking and as

supplements. Many oils, edible and otherwise, are burned as

fuel, such as in oil lamps and as a substitute for petroleum-

based fuels. Some of the many other uses include wood

finishing, oil painting, and skin care.

PULSESA pulse sometimes called a "grain legume", is an annual leguminous crop yielding from one to twelve

seeds of variable size, shape, and color within a pod. Pulses are used

for food for humans and other animals. Included in the pulses are: dry beans like pinto beans, kidney

beans and navy beans

VEGETABLE FIBERVegetable fiber examples include cotton, jute, flax,

ramie and hemp.
