Approval as a Liquid Anti-Strip

Evotherm has been approved as a liquid anti-strip

• Alabama • Florida • Illinois

• Iowa • Missouri • North Carolina

• Tennessee • Virginia • Washington• Louisiana

Enables replacement of lime or liquid anti-strip in the mix design while achieving best-in-class warm mix asphalt

performance.

11

Reduced Thermal Segregation

12

Thermal Segregation

Associated with poor pavement performance.

Resists adequate compaction even after aggressive rolling

Higher permeabilities due to lower density

Lower shear strength

Increased binder oxidation

Reduced life of the road

Extended Hauls and

Paving Season

16

Reaching Farther & Working Longer

Evotherm can be used at hot mix temperatures to increase your market reach and extend your paving season

Increase market reach by hauling material longer distances. Since Evotherm remains workable at a lower temperature, asphalt can be cooler when it reaches the jobsite. This gives remote jobs extended haul times.

Extend paving seasons while achieving target densities. Even when it’s cold out, Evotherm gets the job done. Many contractors have succeeded with Evotherm below the traditional “stop paving” temperatures.

17

HMA at 50ºF

HMA has only 19

minutes of paving time

until the minimum

compaction temperature is reached.

Modoc National ForestDecember 2010

Modoc National Forest is located in a remote section of Northern California…

…over a mountain pass

….that requires chains

….with temperatures in the 20s

….for an over 2-hour haul.

Mix type? ¾ -inch with a modified PG 62-38 binder and containing 15% RAP

VERY FAVORABLE performance compared to the hot mix section.

• No chunks after the belly dump• Mix came out of the chute “like sand”• Surpassed target densities

21

Increased usage of RAP

22

Recycled Asphalt Pavement

Evotherm can increase RAP content by over 50% vs HMA

The DOE forecasts crude oil prices to average $105 per barrel throughout 2011 and 2012.

properties.

Excellent workability in the lab and in the field.

RAP savings of $4 per mix ton!

24

Blending of RAP and Virgin Asphalt

Thorough blending of virgin and RAP binders is important, especially when high levels of RAP are used.

Evotherm mix formulations containing 40% RAP were evaluated in MWV’s Asphalt Innovations laboratory

• Dynamic moduli were measured with an AMPT and calculated using the Hirsch model protocol.

• Thorough blending of the RAP binder and virgin PG64-22 binder was observed.

• Excellent correlation between measured and calculated values was shown.

Maintaining the Performance GradeNew York City, New York

Evotherm and HMA were compared in mixes containing 40% RAP

HMA control binder graded as a PG 76-16 & failed PAV testing

Evotherm binder graded as a PG 70-22; Less thermal cracking

Under cold weather conditions, Evotherm in PG64-22 was evaluated with 40% RAP.
