Section1:GeneralInformation
1. Name&ParentOrganization
ThenameofthisassociationshallbeAssociationofChinaandMongoliaInternationalSchoolsSportsLeague
hereinafterreferredtoastheACAMISSportsLeague.TheSportsLeagueisanorganizationundertheassociation
ofChinaandMongoliaInternationalSchoolsandisinallmatterssubjecttotheirconstitution,by-laws,rules,and
regulations,andgovernancebytheACAMISBoardofDirectors.
2. Purpose
TheACAMISSportsLeagueisdesignedtoprovideaforumforACAMISmemberschoolathleticdirectors,coaches,
andotherinterestedpartiestobettermeettheaimsandpurposesofACAMISinregardtosporteducation.The
aimsandobjectivesoftheACAMISSportsLeagueshallbeto:
a. Givestudentstheopportunitytoexperiencenewendeavoursasscholar-athletes.
b. Allowstudentstoparticipateinsports.
c. Allowstudentsasafeenvironmentinwhichtoexperiencewinningandlosing.
d. Allowstudentstoexperiencethethrillofbeingapartofateam.
e. Givestudentstheopportunitytotravel.
f. Fosterinteractionwithstudentsfromotherschools,andtodevelopbondsoffriendship.
3. Membership
SchoolsthatarecurrentlycomprehensivemembersofACAMISareconsideredmembersoftheACAMISSports
League.Membersshallbeencouragedto:
a. Supporteachschool'sAthleticDirector(ordesignee)attendanceattheACAMISAnnualGeneralMeeting.
DivisionallyAlignedmembersarerequiredto:
a. Hostatleastonecoretournament(withinatwo-yearrotation).
b. Sendaboysandagirlsteamtoallthreecoresporttournamentswithintheschool'sdivision.
DivisionalMembershipwillbereviewedeverytwoyearswitharecommendationtotheBoardtoreplaceaschool
iftheabovecommitmentisnotbeingfulfilledwithoutexceptionalcircumstances.
UnalignedSchoolsarenotrequiredtohostorsendteamstocoresportstournaments.Unalignedschoolswillbe
invitedtoattendacoresporttournamentifaspacebecomesavailableduetothewithdrawalofanaligned
school.
4. Dues
Therewillbenoduesoutsideoftheschool’sACAMISannualmembershipfee.
5. Officers
a. AthleticChair.TheAthleticChairwillbeappointedbytheACAMISBoardfollowingavoteand
recommendationbythememberAthleticDirectorsattheAGM.He/shewillbeanAthleticDirectorfroma

b. Co-Chair.TheAthleticCo-chairwillbeappointedbytheACAMISBoard.followingavoteandrecommendationbythememberAthleticDirectorsattheAGM.He/shewillbeanathleticdirectorfroma
memberschool.Thecurrentco-chairisSimonNewbold:snewbold@harrowbeijing.cn
c. Committee.AcommitteeiscomprisedofarepresentativefromeachoftheCoreSportDivisions.The
representativewillbeappointedbytheDivisionmembersandreviewedonanannualbasis.He/shewillbe
anAthleticDirectorfromamemberschool.SeeAppendix4forcommitteemembers(highlightedintable).
6. Meetings
AnAnnualGeneralMeeting(AGM)oftheAthleticDirectors(ortheirrepresentative)ofallmemberschoolsofthe
ACAMISSportsLeagueshallbeheldduringthespringconference.TheDivisionalCommitteeshallmeetpriorto
thefullmeetingatthesameconference.SpecialmeetingsmaybecalledatthediscretionoftheACAMISBoardof
DirectorsprovidedMemberSchoolsarenotifiedofsuchameetingnotlessthanfifteen(15)dayspriortothe
meetingdate.
7. Voting
AllvotesconcerningtheACAMISSportsLeaguewillbelimitedtothememberschoolsoftheACAMISSports
Leagueandpassedbyamajorityvote.Eachmemberschoolwillhaveonevote.Allvotesshallbedesignedto
providetheACAMISExecutiveBoardwithrecommendationsofanadvisory,non-bindingnature.
8. AmendmentstoArticles
Thesearticlesmaybeamendedoralteredbyasimplemajorityvoteofthememberspresentandvotingatthe
AGMaslongastheydonotalterArticle7.
9. Seasons
a. Therewillbe3coresportseasonsovertheschoolinthefollowingorder:Volleyball,Basketballand

beformed,whichmayhaveupto9teams.Withmorethan9teamsthefollowingpatternshouldbe

organizer.
12. SquadSizes
a. CoreSports-Thesquadsizeforeachteammustbewithinthefollowinglimits:
i. Volleyball(6-a-side,squadsize7-10)
ii. Basketball(5-a-side,squadsize6-10)
iii. Soccer(7-a-side,squadsize8-12)
b. InvitationalSports–thesquadsizeisatthediscretionofthehostschool.
13. Athlete’sAgeLimit
TobeeligibleforACAMISsportscompetition,thestudent-athletemaynothaveturned19yearsofageonor
beforeSeptember1ofthecurrentschoolyear.ParticipationinACAMIShighschoolcoresportseventsislimited
tohighschoolstudentsandthosewhoare14andaboveasof1stSeptemberandbelowthemaximumagelimit.
Anyminimumagerequirementexceptionsrequireamajorityendorsementofmembersinvolvedinthatdivision
ascoordinatedbythetournamentdirector.(seeApplicationforAthleteParticipationtemplateatappendix11).
TheACAMISChairwillcastanytie-breakingvoteifneeded.IftheACAMISAthleticsChairisrepresentinga
memberschoolinthatdivisionthentheACAMISAthleticsCo-chairwillcastthetie-breakingvote.
Applicationsfortheuseofunderageplayerswouldneedtobeputforwardonorbeforetheduedateforrosters
unlessthereareextraordinarycircumstances.

14. TournamentFeesforCoresports
TournamentfeesforparticipantteamsinthethreecoreACAMISsports(volleyball,basketball,soccer)shallbe
basedontheformulaof800RMB/student,multipliedbythemaximumsquadsize(10forvolleyballand
basketballand12forsoccer).
IntheRedandOrangeDivisions,whereschoolsshareequallyinhosting,therewillbenoACAMIStournament
feesassessedtoparticipatingschoolsinthecoresportsofvolleyball,basketball,andsoccer.
Paymentarrangementsforfeesareatthediscretionofthehostschool.Theinvoicemaybesentoneweekafter
thetournamentinvitehasbeensentwhichisatthepointwhereallintentionstoparticipateshouldbe
confirmed.Guestschoolsmustbegivenatleast3weekstopaythetournamentfee.
FinanceprinciplesforHostingACAMISActivities:
a. Theprincipleforactivitiesistobreakevenorhaveasmallsurplus,upto1500RMB.Allmoniesupto
1500RMBwillremaininthehostschool.
b. Anymonetarysurplusinexcessof1500RMBshouldberemittedtoACAMIS.
c. Professionaldevelopmenttrainingsshouldbeplannedtoresultinasurplusandthatsurpluswillgo
toACAMIS.
d. Allschoolsarerequiredtocompleteafinancialreportandremitanysurpluswithin2monthsofthe
event.(seeAppendix8)
e. LossesforactivitiesaretypicallynotcoveredbyACAMISbudgetfundshoweverlossesmaybe
consideredinextraordinarycircumstancesuponawrittenrequesttotheACAMISBoard.
f. Hostschoolswillassumetheresponsibilityandwillnotchargethecostsforalladministrativecosts
andfacilitycostsassociatedwitheventsatthatschool.
15. AQI
ACAMIStournamentswillmodifytournamenttimes/formatsinresponsetoanAQIreadingofover200,with
tournamentstoppageordelaytooccuratover300(basedonbestavailabledata–indoororoutdoor)Thehost
H.O.S.isdesignatedtoofficiallycancelatournamentbasedonACAMISguidelines.
16. SportsRules
TheCoresportswillbeplayedaccordingtotherulesaswrittenintheinappendicesbelow.
RulesfortheInvitationalsportsshallbedeterminedbythehostschool,withparticipatingschoolsinformedof
saidrulesnolessthan4weekspriortothetournamentdate.Onceanadditionalsportbecomesestablished,
appropriateruleswillbedetermined.
17. RulesInfractions
AstudentwhorepresentsaschoolinanACAMISeventistobeafulltimeenrolledmemberofthatschool.Any
schoolfoundplayingineligibleplayersinanACAMISeventwillbedisqualifiedfromtheimmediatetournament.If
thisinformationisforthcomingaftertheevent,thenthisteamwillbedeemeddisqualifiedandtrophiesand
rankingswillbeadjustedaccordingly.
AllACAMISparticipantsareexpectedtoofficiallyagreetotheACAMIS‘StudentParticipationAgreement’(see
appendix5,6)whichmaybedoneonpaperorelectronically.Anyruleinfringementsaccordingtothe
ParticipationAgreementshallbereportedtotheACAMISExecutiveOfficewheretheywillberecordedforfour
yearsandsharedwiththeACAMISAthleticsChair.

Section2:SportsTournamentGuidelines
ThefollowingguidelinesarewrittenfortheCoreSports.InvitationalSportstournamentsshouldtryto
followsimilarguidelineswherepossiblebutwiththeunderstandingthatlocalconditionsmayrequire
adaptationstobemade.
TournamentFormatforcoresports
a. Fortournamentswith6teams:
I. Singleroundrobinfollowedbyeliminationgameswiththefollowingformat:
i. Game16/17/18 B/G 1v4,2v3&5v6
ii. Game19 B/G 3rd/4thPlay-off
iii. Game20 B/G ChampionshipGame
b. Fortournamentsthatdonothave6teamsthetournamentformatwillbedecidedbythe
tournamentcoordinator.Thisformatmustbesentouttoparticipatingschoolsatleastoneweek
priortothetournament.
c. Eachyeargirlsandboysplay-offswillbereversed.Year1–Girlschampionshipgameisthefinal
game.Year2–Boyschampionshipgameisthefinalgame.Asaguide,in2010-2011theBoys
Championshipwasplayedfirst.
d. Inanefforttoensuresafetyandequityineventschedules,thefollowingprioritieswillbe
followed:
I. Noteamshouldplayback-to-backonanydayintheroundrobinstage.Game-Rest-
Gameshouldnotoccurmorethanonceinatournamentforanyteam.
II. Ifpossible,theschooltravelingthefarthestdistanceshouldnotbescheduledtoplay
firstonthefirstday.
III. Lastgameonedayandfirstgamethenextdayshouldnotoccurmorethanonceina
tournamentforanyteam.
IV. Theboysandgirlsteamsfromthesameschoolshouldnotbescheduledtoplayatthe
sametimemorethanonceinatournament.
V. Rotatecourtsandfieldsforboysandgirlscompetitions.Itisexpectedthathostschools
ofsportstournamentswillfairlyrotatealltournamentcourtsandfieldswiththeboys
andgirlsdivisionsforallteamsinvolved,wheneverpossible.
e. Fortournamentswith3venues:
I. Three-venueformatsmaybeusedatthediscretionofthehostschooltournament
director,ensuringthatadequaterestisstillprovided.
II. Note:pleasenotethataThree-venueformatwillnotbeseenasaviolationofthese
priorities.

f. ThefollowingistherecommendedstructureofCoresportstournamentsandinvitational
tournamentsthatrequires2andahalfdaysofcompetition.Invitationaltournamentscanbe
adaptedasneeded.

i. Teamstraveltohostschool.
ii. Thefirstand/orsecondgameoftheroundrobinshouldbeplayedon
afternoon/evening.
II. DayTwo
i. RoundRobingamescontinue.Ideallythreegameswillbeplayedbyeachteam
III. DayThree:
i. Finalroundrobingameinthemorning(ifnotalreadycompleted)
ii. Finalpositiongamesplayed.
iii. PresentationDinner
IV. DayFour:
i. Teamstravelhome
g. Tie-Breakers-‘Ifanystageofthetie-breakerseparatesallofthetiedteams,thenthetie-break
iscomplete.If,atanystageofthetie-breaker,onlytwoteamsremaintied,theheadtohead
resultwilldeterminetheplacing.’
HostSchoolExpectations–CoreSports
a. CommunicationwithschoolsisessentialforthesmoothrunningandpreparationofACAMIS
SportsTournaments.Communicationshouldbeconductedviaemailorbyphonewhen
necessary.SeeAppendix7forcontactdetails
b. Tournamentdirectorswillsendoutinformationtoparticipatingschoolstwomonthspriorto
scheduleddate,andparticipatingschoolswillrespondwithin1weekiftheyareunabletofulfil
theircommitmenttothetournament.
c. Ifaschoolinthedivisionisunabletofulfiltheircommitmenttothetournament,thefollowing
procedureshalltakeplace:
i. TheAthleticsChairisinformedandtheAthleticsChairofferstheopportunitytoall
unalignedmemberschoolsonafirstcomefirstservedbasis
ii. Ifnounalignedmemberschooltakesthisopportunity,theTournamentDirectorcan
offertheopportunitytoalocalnon-ACAMISprivateschoolortoasecondteamfrom
thehostschool.Whenmakingthisdecision,ajudgmentneedstobemadewithregard
tothesubstituteteambeingatacompetitivelevelwiththeotherteamsinthedivision.
iii. Everyeffortshouldbemadetofindareplacement,butIfnonecanbefound,the
TournamentDirectormakesarrangementsfora5teamtournament.
d. ThecommunicationfromtheTournamentDirectorshouldinclude:

throughoutthetournament.Thereshouldbemoreofficialsthantheminimumnumber,
whichallowsforarotationandsuitablebreaksfortheofficials.
III. Trophies/Awards-Trophieswillbeawardedforfirst,secondandthirdplacedteams.Further
awardswillbeasfollows:
i. Awardswillbegiventoindividualathletesfromeachschoolwhoarenominated
forthe“alltournament”team.Nominationsforalltournamentteamwillbeon
thefollowingbasis:
1. 1stplacedteam=3nominations
2. 2ndplacedteam=2nominations
3. 3rdplacedteam=2nominations
4. 4th,5thand6thplacedteams=1nominationeach.
ii. AwardswillbeaT-shirtindicatingalltournamentselectionanda
trophy/medallion(atthehostschoolsdiscretion)
iii. Atrophywillbeawardedtotheteamvotedthemostsportingteamatthe
tournament.Votingforthistrophywillbedonebyallteamsbasedonastandard

IV. Transport-Transportshouldbeprovidedtoandfromairport/train/ferrystationforall
visitingteams.Transportshouldalsobeprovidedtoandfromtournamentvenueandhost

V. Program-Aprogramofthetournamentshouldbeprovided.Hostschoolshavetheoptionof
producingeitherahardcopyorelectronicversionofthisprogram.Schoolsarealso
encouragedtocreatewebsitesfortheirindividualevents.Theprogramshouldincludebut

iii. Eveningmealsshouldbeprovidedbythehostfamily(ifhomestaytournament)
withtheexceptionofdaythreewhenapresentationdinnermustbeprovidedby
thehostschool.Ifathletesarenotbeinghostedtheyshouldarrangefortheir
owndinnerunlesstournamentplayextendsintodinnertimeinwhichcasethe
hostschoolshouldprovidethedinner.
iv. Drinksshouldbemadeavailableatalltimesduringthetournament.
v. Hostsshouldensurethatvegetarianoptionsareavailableforeachmealthey
provide.
VII. Housing
i. ForRedandOrangeDivisions,thehostschoolmustoffertoprovidehomestay
housingtoallvisitingathletesandcoaches.Visitingschoolsmaychooseto
arrangetheirownhotelaccommodationforathletesand/orcoachesattheir
ownexpense.Afterthe2017-2018season,homestayswillbediscontinued.
ii. ForallotherDivisions,ifthehostschoolcannotprovidehousing,theywillsecure
aspecialrateata“tournamenthotel”andallexpenseswillbetheresponsibility
oftheindividualvisitingschool.
iii. ForInvitationalsports,homestaysarenotexpectedbutifaschoolfeelstheycan
hosttheathletesinhomestheyareencouragedtodoso.
iv. HostSchoolswillmakeeveryefforttoensurethatathletesarenothomestayed
orplacedinhotelsonanindividualbasis.Eachevening,visiting

coaches/chaperonesshallmakecontactwitheachstudent/parentatthecurfew
timetoestablishthattheyareattheirhostshouseorintheirhotelroom.Host

homestays,withtheunderstandingthatchangesdohappen,hostschoolsshould
providethenameandmeansofcontactforparticipatingstudentstotheAthletic
Directorsofparticipatingteamsatleasttwodaysbeforedeparture.
VIII. Coaches’Meeting-Acoachesmeetingshouldbescheduledfordayoneofthetournament
todiscussanyrelevantmatterswithallvisitingcoaches.Coachesmeetingmayincludebutis
notexclusiveto:

IX. Coaches’Dinner-Acoach’sdinnershouldbeprovidedforallvisitingcoachesondayoneor

X. Coaches’HospitalityLounge-Wherepossibleanareaforcoachestorelax(awayfromthe
tournamentplayingarea)andgetasnack/beverageshouldbeprovidedforthedurationof
thetournament.
XI. AthleteInformationPackage-Allathletesshouldbeprovidedwithaninformationpackage,
inhardorsoftcopy,whichincludes:

1. Theuseoftobacco,drinkingofalcohol,oruseofillegaldrugswillnotbeallowedduring
travelorwhileinthehostcityduringtheperiodoftimecoveredbytheACAMISactivity.
(Consequence:suspensionfromimmediateandfurtherparticipationandstudent’sprincipalnotified.AsecondoffenseinthesameschoolyearwillresultinexclusioninallACAMISeventsforoneschoolyearincludingthesameeventthefollowingyear.)
2. Anydeparturesfromthehotelwillbedoneonlywithpermissionofthelead
