To the Students of D.M.T.S. and B.I.B.L.E.:
It is a pleasure to welcome you to one of St. Louis’ finest bible programs. What you are finding in this catalog has been put together with much prayer, labor, and thought. What we are offering through these programs is that which we feel every student will need in meeting the challenges that are before us in this 21st Century.
As you know King David was a warrior, a psalmist, a worshipper, a ruler and a king. However, in my opinion one of the greatest accomplishments found in scripture regarding him is this that gives a cameo of David’s call:
Acts 13:36—“For David, after he had served God's purpose in his own generation…”
The challenge that is before us is to mimic the lifestyle of David, and that is to discover ways to serve the needs of our generation, and through it prepare the next generation to effectively serve.
As this student body moves forward, you are encouraged to take full advantage of the cadre of teachers and professors. They represent some of the brightest minds in their respective fields and are making themselves available to you.
As I always say—study as if there is no Holy Spirit to assist you; and deliver as if you have never studied! In doing so, you will maximize your life and calling guaranteeing that God will be glorified.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Dwight McDaniels Theological Seminary (D.M.T.S.) and Blackwell Institute of Biblical Leadership and Evangelism (B.I.B.L.E.) as a professional graduate-level school is to glorify God by equipping godly men and women as servant leaders for the proclamation of His Word and the building up of the body of Christ worldwide.

What We Believe
We Believe the Holy Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16)
We Believe in one God but three manifestations: "The Father, The Word, and The Holy Ghost." For there are three that bear record in heaven, "the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7)
We Believe in the deity of our Lord, Jesus Christ, His Immaculate (Virgin) Birth, His sinless life, His healings, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations. (1Timothy 3:16)
We Believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation. (Titus 3:5)
We Believe in the redemptive work of Christ on the cross. (Galatians 3:13)
We Believe the baptism of the Holy Ghost is given to believers who ask for it. (Acts 2:4)
We Believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost by whose in-filling, the Christian is enabled to live a holy life. (Acts 1:18)

Technology Usage Policies and Procedures
The following rules and responsibilities will be adhered to by all users of D.M.T.S. and B.I.B.L.E. technology resources:
Applying for a user ID under false pretense is prohibited.
Using another person’s user ID and/or password is prohibited.
Use of school technology for soliciting, advertising, fundraising, commercial purposes or for financial gain is prohibited.
Accessing, viewing or disseminating information using school resources including mail or internet access, that is pornographic, obscene, child pornography libelous, pervasively indecent or vulgar is not permitted.
Users may only use properly installed licensed software; audio or video media purchased by the school.
Any use that has the purpose or effect of discriminating or harassing any person or persons on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, age is prohibited.
Use of the school’s technology is a privilege, not a right. A user’s privileges maybe suspended pending an investigation concerning use of the school’s technology resources. Any violation of school policies, regulations or procedures regarding technology usage may result in temporary, long-term or permanent suspension of user’s privileges.

Diversity is central to our mission and essential to the health of our institution. A diverse school community of students, faculty, staff and board members enriches the learning experience for all and prepares us for the multicultural world in which we reside.
Assessment GuidelinesIn order to receive an A, B, or C in the course work, students must complete and submit all assignments.
Attendance and Participation
1. Attendance Policy: Consistent attendance is vital to classroom success. Lectures, discussions, simulations, and reporting are critical aspects of students’ success. When a student is absent, this type of work cannot be replicated or “made up.” It is the student’s responsibility to obtain all materials missed as a result of absence.
2. Tardy Policy: Tardiness is a disruption to the classroom setting and to students who are already present. Please do your very best to avoid being tardy. If it can’t be avoided, please be respectful of others.
3. Participation Policy: Just as attendance is important, participation in class discussions and activities are required. Students should be prepared to be active participants in all classroom activities. Rules of classroom civility apply.
Academic Honesty (plagiarism and cheating policy)
Academic dishonesty is defined as those acts of deceit or misrepresentation intended to promote or enhance one’s academic record. Academic dishonesty includes all forms of “cheating “and plagiarism. Cheating is defined as, but not limited to the following:
1. Use or attempted use of unauthorized assistance in taking examinations, including quizzes or test and the completion of assignments,

2. Dependence upon the aid of sources beyond those authorized by the instructor in taking exams or completing assignments.
3. Unauthorized acquisition or possession of examinations or other academic material belonging to a member of the school faculty or staff.
Plagiarism is the act of taking another’s work and claiming that it is one’s own. Adequate acknowledgment of another’s work is all that is required to avoid plagiarism. If there is any doubt about how to express acknowledgment, the student should consult with his/her instructor or refer to a writing style manual.
Should academic dishonesty occur, the affected faculty member and the academic administration of D.M.T.S. and B.I.B.L.E. shall have the discretion to take appropriate action.
Grading Policy
Students may receive grades of A, B, C, F, I, WD. Grade “A”, “B”, “C”, and “F” are used to calculate the student’s academic standing. A grade of “A” represents outstanding performance. A grade of “B” represents satisfactory performance at the graduate level. A grade of “C” indicates performance below that acceptable at the graduate level. An “F’ indicates a significant failure in performance related to the requirement of the course. A grade of “I” indicates incomplete course work. A grade of “WD” indicates student withdrew from the class.
Classroom Protocol
To maximize classroom and campus success for each student, and to insure a positive learning environment, the following conduct is expected of all:
1. Attend all scheduled classes in a timely manner.2. Appropriate dress is required for all classes.

3. Head coverings include but not limited to hairnets, head sweats, do-rags and heat wraps are inappropriate on campus unless there is a religious or cultural necessity.
4. Tobacco may not be used at any time on campus.5. Coffee and soft drinks may be permitted by the classroom instructor; however,
empty containers must be properly disposed of after class.6. No Food or Drinks are allowed in the computer lab.7. Talking during class is limited to class discussion only.
Accommodations
Student with disabilities, who require special accommodation, should contact the administrative office for campus accessibility services at (314) 869-7193. They should notify the instructor prior to the start of the semester and provide documentation of the disability. Reasonable accommodation will be made to ensure that disabled students have a fair opportunity to perform at their maximum proficiency.
Personnel Policy StatementA resume, application, two letters of reference, a criminal background check, academic transcripts and/or certificates are requirements to teach at D.M.T.S. and B.I.B.L.E.
Personnel Job Descriptions
1. Adjunct Professors are a valuable part of the instructional team at D.M.T.S. and B.I.B.L.E. The instructor adds the expertise of a successful current practitioner to the faculty. Adjunct professors represent D.M.T.S. and B.I.B.L.E. to the community. To this end, we ask that each professor continually reflect a positive image to the public, and as an option, act as counsel to those students who approach them for advise in their area of expertise.
2. Clerical Personnel will consist of one Executive Secretary and one office worker. They will direct the daily operations, responsibilities, and duties of the office.

3. Administration of D.M.T.S. and B.I.B.L.E. will be responsible for the oversight and operation of the seminary. It is the administrations’ responsibility to ensure that the seminary offers a Christian value-centered program which leads to the development of the whole individual as an educated, responsible citizen of a global community.
Academic Operations
Credits Awarded Per Semester
1. Students will be awarded one-three hours credit per semester based on the program in which they are enrolled.
2. The equivalent classroom hours earned per semester shall be 10-15 hours for basic standard requirements or two hours per class for D.M.T.S.
3. D.M.T.S. requires a high school diploma or equivalent for enrollment

D.M.T.S. Degree RequirementsUndergraduate Degrees (Pastoral Ministry)
(High School diploma required)
Associate of Ministry (A.Min.) 60 credit hours
The school’s Associate Degree program requires the student to earn at least 60 semester credit hours with a minimum 2.50 GPA (of a possible 4.00).
Bachelor of Ministry (B.Min.) 120 credit hours
The school’s Bachelor Degree program requires the student to earn at least 120 semester credit hours with a minimum 2.75 GPA (of a possible 4.00).
Master Degrees in Ministry(Bachelor degree required)
Master of Ministry (M.Min.)
This degree will prepare students for a graduate degree in religious education preparing them for a worldwide mission. All of the school’s Master Degree programs require the student to earn at least 30 semester credit hours with a minimum 3.00 GPA beyond the Bachelor degree. The school’s Master Degree programs require the student to write an acceptable graduate-level thesis of at least 50 typed pages. 32 credit hours
Master of Counseling (M.C.)=(M.C. + a Master Degree)
This degree will equip students to use standard methods of secular counseling while helping the client apply Bible scriptures and truths to live in a balanced, healthy way. The guiding foundation for D.M.T.S’ counseling program is that the scriptures are sufficient for understanding people as, spiritual, moral, relational, and psychological beings. This program equips men and women who wish to ministry the truth of God in the context of the local church. 30 credit hours
Doctorate Degrees in Ministry14
(Master degree required)
Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)
The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) at this seminary is geared towards students successfully engaged in ministry. This program enables leaders in Christian ministry to increase their effectiveness in the church, and mission in which they minister. The school’s Doctoral Degree programs require the student to have a Master degree with a 3.50 GPA.
The school’s Doctoral programs require the student to earn at least 60 semester credit hours with a 3.50 GPA beyond the Master degree, for a total of 90 credit hours.
The school’s Doctoral program requires the student to write an acceptable graduate-level dissertation of at least 100 typed pages. The student is required to pass an oral examination. 30 credit hours
Doctor of Christian Counseling (Ph.D.)
The Doctor of Christian Counseling program, with specializations in Professional Christian Counseling with expanded study in Pastoral Care and Counseling, focuses on the development of excellence in counseling practices within a biblically informed Christian worldview. 41 credit hours
Additional Degree Information
All degrees offered at D.M.T.S. and certifications from B.I.B.L.E. will be identified as religious. Additional school awards will be given for secular certificates or diplomas.
For each degree level, the student is required to do 15% of their semester credit hours in a life experience internship.

Each Associate Degree track (area of concentration) will have a least one qualified faculty member with a Bachelor degree in that field.
Each Bachelor Degree track (area of concentration) will have a least one qualified faculty member with a Master degree in that field.
Each Master Degree track (area of concentration) will have a least one qualified faculty member with a Master degree in that field.
Each Doctorate Degree track (area of concentration) will have a least one qualified faculty member with a Doctoral degree in that field.
Discrimination PolicyD.M.T.S. does not discriminate in employment of personnel, enrollment of students, or provisions of services and programs.
FacilitiesThe facility consists of one building, one administrative office, and seven classrooms on approximately an acre of land.
LibraryEach student should have a valid library card that will give them access to the public library in the area.
Refund Policy Registration Fee (non-refundable) $50.00
If a student is compelled to withdraw from D.M.T.S., and paying by installments, payments are non-refundable. If payment for tuition is paid in full, student will receive a refund based on the statements below, minus any credit card processing fees:

School Fees and Tuition 2013-2014
It is necessary for D.M.T.S. to increase tuition for the year starting January 2013 and will be assessed yearly. This increase will make the tuition commensurate with some accredited colleges and seminaries. Course numbers have changed. The cost is calculated per course.

A survey of basic New Testament Bible facts, to provide a usable foundation for personal study, ministry, and practical theology.
ABS 104 COME REAP 3 credits
A written study of selected portions of scriptures to gain biblical knowledge, facts, information, truths, and concepts.
ABS 103 Sermon Synopsis (2) (150 words minimum) 5 credits Through classroom interactions, reading, writing assignments (sermons), students will learn biblical-theology foundations for cross cultural ministry.
ABS 101 Literature Profile Review (2 Book reviews) 10 credits
Exploration of the content and themes of selected authors and books with focus on principles of interpretation, which includes detailed exegesis of key text.

This course is designed to prepare students for ministry with an emphasis on developing practical skills necessary for effective leadership across a broad spectrum of ministry contexts.

Grief Counseling investigates the touch stones that are essential physical, emotional cognitive, social, and spiritual actions to help one heal.

and the duties of the minister with special emphasis on the development, and duties of the students as shepherds in a Christian ministry.

PowerPoint is a complete presentation graphics package. This class will offer word processing, outlining, drawing, graphing, and presentation management tools.
BBS 225 Biblical Outlines-Old Testament (10) 7 credits
A written study of selected books of the Old Testament that will enhance the student’s biblical knowledge, information, and concepts which includes 8 written outlines for each test booklet.

Exploration of the content and themes of selected authors and books with focus on principles of interpretation, which includes detailed exegesis of key text from three religious topics using electronic media.

Design to equip students for marriage and family counseling, this course will survey biblical, conceptual, and practical issues for a health relationship.

This course is designed to equip the student with the skills to develop and maintain informational systems focusing on technical and fundamental usage.

This course is the study of the biblical foundation, history, and philosophy of Christian Counseling.

Using the latest research, theory and practice in counseling, this course will equip the student to respond appropriately to emotional disorders, problems, and issues of trauma.
MBS 406 Biblical Literature & Poetry (a study of Proverbs) 3 credits
This course is design as a expository study of the first nine chapters of the book of Proverbs with cross references to other portions of scripture. The purpose is to assist the student in gaining a great comprehension of Christian literature & poetry.
MBS 407 Homiletics 2 credits
Students will present the scriptures of various sermon types, practice in composition, deliver and voice methods.
MBS 408 Biblical Models of Servant Leadership 2 credits
This course examines and explores biblical leaders in Christianity with a view towards understanding the role of religious leadership and the exercise of ministry today. This is a case study approach.

DBS 600 Article Reviews (3 reviews -100 words) 3 credits
This course will focus on the primary principles of scholarly research, reflective considerations, participatory deliver, and ethical questions for class facilitation.
DBS 601 Case Study Seminar (10 cases) 4 credits
Students will be actively engaged by abstracting from the example this will develop their skills in problem solving, enhancing their analytical skills both quantitative and qualitative, decision making and coping with ambiguities. (Required treatment forms)
DBS 604 Internship Experience 3 credits
The students will enroll in internship experience with clients for the semester. Students will be assigned individual supervisors for case reviews, evaluations and interaction with clients. ($150 fee)
DBS 605 Introduction of Research Project Topic (15 min. PowerPoint) 6 credits
This course explores research in the field through critical evaluation, published research, experienced in developing problem statements and research questions, in writing a research proposal using qualitative or quantitative data techniques.
DBS 606 Introduction to Theology 3 credits

This course will analyze themes in the doctrines of God, Christ, and Humanity, focusing on their biblical foundations and the church’s interaction.
DBS 607 World Religions 3 credits
This course examines the major world religions in order to understand their principal doctrines and practices and the subsequent implication for Christian witness.
DBS 608 Dissertation Capstone 1: 4 credits
Required of all doctoral candidates prior to submission of dissertation proposal (before the written proposal is accepted the I.R.B. must be approved.)
DBS 609 Dissertation Capstone 2: 4 credits
Required of all doctoral candidates prior to submission of dissertation proposal (before the written proposal is accepted the Institution Review Board document (*I.R.B.) must be approved.)

This course is the study of the biblical foundation, history, and philosophy of Christian Counseling.
CM 555 Marriages and Family Counseling: 3 credits
Design to equip individuals for marriage and family counseling in the local church.
CM 560 Ethics for the Christian Counselor: 3 credits
This course provides an ethical framework for pastoral and professional counselors and deals with such issues as confidentiality, professionalism, legal responsibilities and common ethical dilemmas in counseling.
CM 565 NCCA Certification: 3 credits
Each student will enroll in NCCA certification program to become a certified Christian Counselor.
CM 570 Church Leadership: 3 credits
This course will help students develop their philosophy of ministry based upon the theological convictions that undergird their primary ministry calling.
CM 575 Psychological Disorders: 3 credits
This course offers an intensive study of the main emotional and behavioral problem encountered by those counseling in a church or other context. This includes awareness of both Christian and secular helping agencies.

This course will introduce students on how to develop plans of action in crisis situations, how to evaluate and assess persons in crisis, as well as, the awareness of both Christian and secular helping agencies
CM 585 Career Counseling: 3 credits
This course is a survey of approaches to counseling about career choices as well as issues involved in career and other career related choices.
CM 586 Apologetics Culture: 3 credits
This course will analyze the philosophical, religious, scientific beliefs and ideas which have shaped different cultures. The course study will explain how these beliefs are now reshaping our multicultural and pluralistic society.
CM 587 Grief Counseling (Lab 3 times) 3 credits
This course is designed to teach the pastors and laity how to counsel those who are experiencing the grief/mourning process.
CM 588 Senses and Sexuality: 3 credits
This course will explore the bible’s answers to such questions as: how are we brain washed by the vivid and powerful cultural messages about sex in our bodies.

This course is designed to equip students for marriage and family counseling in the local church. This course surveys biblical, conceptual and practical issues involved. The importance of a healthy marriage relationship is stressed.
CM 620 Group Dynamics: Introduction to group formation and development stages, roles, and norms, cohesion, deviance, conformity, problem-solving, leadership and verbal and nonverbal communication. 3 credits
CM 630 New Testament: (Acts, I & II Corinthians and Hebrew): An examination of the purpose, theology and chronology of Acts, and a further study of Hebrew philosophy.
