Transcript of about the book Most important things

The mouse Redback wanted very much

to understand the Most Important

Things: where did the forest come

from, and the sun, and the stars - and

the whole wide wonderful world?

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGIN THE WORLD

“What a silly question!” said the

hare. “All I need to know is which

kinds of grass taste good, and

how to hide if somebody wants to

catch me.”

“What do I need to know that for?”

the squirrel had said and brought

nuts from her winter stores.

“Have a bite of this, little mouse. It's

so sweet you'll forget all about that

funny question of yours.”

Even the mouse's very own brothers - Swiftpaw and Homey - couldn't

answer such an important question.

They said:

“Instead of fooling around with that nonsense why don't you

think about food?”

One morning something amazing

happened! The sunbeam came right

inside the mouse' heart, and it was

like something inside him started to

shine.

"Who are you?" Redback asked in

surprise.

"Who do you think I am?"

"You're a gentle stream of sunlight.

You're inside my heart, but you're

bigger than the whole world!“

“Sunbeam, please tell me, I just have to know:

What's the Most Important Thing in the world?”

asked Redback.

“Remember well what I tell you

now,” the sunbeam laughed.

“The Most Important Thing is to

shine on others…”

Redback sat thinking.

“But how can I shine? I'm not a

firefly…”

The mouse Redback dreamt that

he himself turned into a little

cloud full of tiny raindrops.

“If you want to do the Most

Important Thing,” raindrop

said, “you must bring water

to whoever may be thirsty.”

“How we can break water or

sunlight into pieces, little

mouse? You think some of the

creatures are good, and all the

rest are bad - but the light and

water are for everyone.”

“ I think you shouldn't give light

or water to just everybody. I

wouldn't give anything to the

nasty, scary creatures,” the

mouse answered.

A mother wolf got caught in a trap, and she can't run. She was lying in

the brush and fretted about her cubs, which were all alone in the den.

SHOULD WE REALLY HELP OUR ENEMIES?

"If you want to help the wolf, follow me, When the

sun is higher in the sky, I'll light up three emerald

dewdrops on a magic plant growing behind the

young fir tree. If you can dig it up, roots and all, and

the wolf eats it, she'll get her strength back,” said

the sunbeam.

“So the mice are helping

the wolves now. That goes

against every law and rule

of the forest,” the wolf

growled.

IT'S HARD TO BE GOOD

All the wood mice were mad at Redback, and he got out of the forest.

A lot of amazing stories were happened with the mouse Redback afterwards.
