The Jackson Plaza is now partially opened to the public.

Restoration of the Grand Stairs is nearly complete and will be open soon.

The black light post illuminates the plaza. Historic replicas of the original cast iron lights on the granite balustrade will be added later.

New flower baskets, lighting and gutters installed under the north side canopy.

This partial test-piece shows reproduced historic copper flashings to be installed along the north and west canopy trim.

All chains supporting the canopy will be restored and painted.

Site of the 31 new geothermal wells. The wells are connected and reach the mechanical room under the plaza.

Terrazzo steps for the Grand Stairs delivered onsite for installation.

The Grand Stairs will be open to the public by fall 2011.

Stainless steel hand rails installed on the rehabilitated Grand Stairs.

The Grand Stairs provide access to the main waiting room and new baggage and ticket areas.

Installation of wooden counters in the baggage and ticketing area is underway.

Columns and structural shear wall recently painted for extra durability.

Electric lift will provide access for disable personnel from terminal level to Amtrak break room.

Lift seen from mezzanine level.

Steel guards provide safety when viewing the track.

New west side geothermal wells are waiting to be connected to the rest of system.

The geothermal wells will provide 100 percent heating and cooling for the entire building.

New guard plates were installed to protect structural columns along Jackson Street.
