The coronavirus pandemichas affected many things in-cluding 4-H. During thesetough times, 4-H has had toimprovise, adapt and over-come.

In April , the StanleyBuccaneer’s 4-H club beganholding their monthly meet-ings electronically throughZoom. For the first timesince February the 4-Hclub’s July meeting was heldin person (outdoors, adheringto CDC social distancing andmask guidelines). It was

nice to be able to talk andcatch up with other 4-Hmembers and meet face toface.

Despite not being able tomeet in person for projectmeetings, our 4-H membershave been hard at work ontheir projects preparing forthe Johnson County Fair.Elizabeth Lang, senior, stated, “The pandemiccaused me to have a lot oftime on my hands, so I wasable to focus on each ofthem more.” StanleyBuccaneer’s members arediligently working on a vari-

ety of fair projects. To quote the 1964 Bob

Dylan song “The Times TheyAre a Changin’,” but withchange comes exciting newbeginnings. While right nowthings may look bleak, 4-Hwill evolve for the next gen-eration bringing them lots ofjoy.

Just because 4-H isn’t thesame as when we grew updoesn’t mean it can’t changeto better suit the next genera-tion in these different times.

4-H will always embody“making the best better” nomatter what changes occur.
