Phase In Overview

During the first four weeks of school (phase-in), Face to Face students will be in class on a specific day and will be required to

login to Seesaw and complete lessons on the other days. Remote learners will be expected to login to Seesaw every day and complete

their lessons, though they may not have live classes during the phase in (this is asynchronous learning).

A Daily Agenda will be sent out through Seesaw.

School Supplies

We will be using more technology this year. If your child will be on campus, it is very important that your child brings a charged device

everyday. If your child does not have a device to bring to school, please e-mail me and let me know. Each child will keep their own

supplies at his/her desk. We will organize all supplies the first week of school.

Due to more technology this year, we may send home some of the extra folders and marble notebooks.

• Grades are entered in Skyward weekly. You can log into Skyward to check your child's grades.

• You can even place account settings on your Skyward account to get a daily e-mail with your child's grades and averages.

• All graded work is sent home in Tuesday's red folder or recorded in Seesaw.

If a student fails an assignment, they are allowed to correct the assignment and can earn up to a 70.

• We encourage your child to read at home and practice multiplication facts daily.

• Your child will need to log into Seesaw daily and complete activities.

• We will send out a Daily Agenda in Seesaw that will explain lessons and activities to be completed for that day.

• Students will have an agenda to keep track of their daily assignments. This agenda should go home every day.

• Students may bring a nutritious snack.

• Please check your e-mail, Skyward, and Seesaw daily for classroom information.

• If your child will be going home a different way, please send in a note, or contact the office before 2:00.

• Parents will not be allowed to walk their child to class.

• Please send your child's lunch with them. You may not drop off lunches in open containers.

• Please do not send in birthday treats this year, and no visitors allowed for lunch at this time.

We are happy to meet with you during our conference time from 12:55-1:40. This year we will be scheduling all of our conferences in

TEAMS.

• If your child is absent, please send in an excuse note on a full sheet of paper within 3 days. There is an excuse note on the

school's website that you can print out and complete. We can no longer accept e-mailed excuse notes. Please make sure your

child's name, teacher, and date(s) of absence are on the note.

• If you are checking out your child for the afternoon, please do so by 2:45. We will not allow early checkouts after this time.

• Students need to become fluent in their multiplication facts (0-12) this year. It is imperative that they are memorized.

The majority of math, from here on out, relies on the mastery of these facts.

• Students must also show/prove their work on all math problems.

• Homework—Focus on fact fluency and current vocabulary words

Pearland ISD follows a balanced literacy program that includes: read aloud, shared reading, guided reading, and literacy workstations.Students should be reading for at least 20 minutes at home every

day.

Students will have a weekly vocabulary list and quiz on Friday.

• Students will work on grammar skills every day by analyzing mentor sentences .

• Students will write in a journal daily. Students will keep their journal in Seesaw.

• Students will write daily during writing workshop and work on a specific writing skill.

• Your child will be studying Texas history.

Students will receive a spelling list each week, and they will be responsible for completing three activities with their spelling

words.

• Students will need to bring a charged device to school when they are on campus. They may want to bring their own headphones.

• Students need to wear school appropriate masks. It would also help if they have an extra mask in their backpack.

• Please have students bring a flip top lid water bottle because water fountains are shut off.

• It also helps if students have an extra pair of clothes in their backpack.

At this time, we are not allowed to have any volunteers.
