MAGIC COMMUNICATION

DEFINITION OF 4G

4G is the 4th Generation of standards for mobile phones and mobile telecommunications

INTRODUCTION

Fourth generation is the “next” generation of technology that will be used by cellular phone companies, making it possible to deliver superior quality video and data, in addition to voice.

voice.4G Wireless was originally conceived of by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DRAPA) in US, the same organization that developed the wired internet.

The data transfer rate is expected to be in the range of 20 to 100 Mbps in 4G networks, which will be 10

to 50 times those offered by 3G links. 4G will reliable wireless subscribers to view high

definition television programming through wireless broadband connections

HISTORY OF 4G

It is a successor to the 3G and 2G families of standards.

to solve still-remaining problems of 3G

SERVICE EVOLUTION

comprehensive and secure IP based mobile broadband solution to laptop computer wireless modems, smart phones, and other mobile devices.

variety of new services fast response, high capacity, low user charges,

OFDMA(ORTHOGONAL FREQ. DIVISION MULTIPLEXING).

The signal is split into orthogonal subcarriers, on each of which the signal is “narrowband” (a few kHz)

it is immune to multipath effect

It is flexibility for resource allocation of radio link usage.

OFDM also provides a frequency diversity gain, improving the physical layer performance

OFDM

SDR(SOFTWARE DEFINED RADIO).

Several infrastructural gains are expected from SDR.

Ex: to increase the n/w capacity at a specific

time(during a sport event).an operator has to reconfigure its n/w by adding several modems at BTS.

SDR makes this reconfiguration easy.

MIMO(MULTIPLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT)

Mimo uses signal multiplexing between multiple transmitting antenna&recievers

Using OFDMA signal transmitted by M antennas is recieved by N antennas

MIMO is more effecient when many multi path signals are recieved

Handover and mobility is more flexible in OFDMA than in CDMA

INTERLAYER OPTIMIZATION Interlayer optimization The most obvious interaction is the one between

MIMO and the MAC layer. Other interactions have been identified (see Figure7).

HANDOVER AND MOBILITY

HANDOVER TECHNOLOGY IS BASED ON MOBILE IP TECHNOLOGY

IN SINGLE FREQUENCY NETWORKS IT IS NECESSARY TO RECONSIDER THE HANDOVER METHODS

SEVERAL TECHNIQUES AN BE USED WHEN CARRIER TO INTERFERENCE RATIO IS NEGATIVE BUT DRAWBACK OF THIS TECHNIQUES IS CAPACITY

THE ALTERNATE IS TO USE MACRO DIVERSITY PROCESSING

CACHING AND PICOCELL

In pico cellular coverage highdata rate services can be delivered even the reception or transmission is interrupted for few seconds

Advantages of coverage esspecially when designed with caching technology is high spectrum efficiency ,highscalability(50to500 bit/s/hz),highcapacity and and low cost

MULTIPLE

PICO CELL NET WORK DESIGN

COVERAGE Coverage the density is achieved by

adding new technologies and progressively enhancing density

Wimax deployment is taken as example Parent coverage performance may

vary from 1 to 20 bits/s/hz/km while pico cell

may achieve from 100 to 500 bit/s/hz/km

FUTURE APPLICATIONS

SENSORS ON PUBLIC VEHICLES

CAMERAS IN TRAFFIC LIGHTS

VIRTUAL NAVIGATION

TELE MEDICINE

TRAFFIC CONTROL DURING DISASTERS

CONCLUSION

As the history of mobile communications shows, attempts have been made to reduce a number of technologies to a single global standard. Projected 4G systems offer this promise of a standard that can be embraced worldwide through its key concept of integration.
