LESSON 3 3. Finishing
A. Body balanceThe most important when finishing is the body
balance.
LESSON 3 3. Finishing
A. Feet positionThe section of the shooting foot used should be
decided considering the target.
Inside foot, outside foot and instep
The support foot have to be right beside the ball
The support foot before the ball line will produce a high trajectory and after the ball line produces a “ground” trajectory but with not enough potency.
LESSON 3 3. Finishing
LESSON 3 3. Finishing
A. Best sideThe player should try the strongest foot to shoot
when it is possible.
Remember: less touches inside the penalty area, more chance to be successful when finishing.
LESSON 3 3. Finishing
A. Goal aimWhen the player has time to put the ball out of
goalkeeper’s reach, he doesn’t need to be strong (more precise).
When the time is short the shoot should be strong (less precise) and more centered.

LESSON 3 3. Finishing
A. HeaderAlways open eyes
Before the ball comes the players should check the target.
The heading finish touching the ground before reaches the goal is more difficult to the goalkeeper and avoids the ball trajectory too high.

LESSON 3 3. Finishing
B. Inside 18 yards box
Good scorers touch the ball once and… net.
Most of the times the easy finishes become the biggest mistakes.
The player must keep the concentration until the ball reaches the net.
Accuracy high and strength low.
LESSON 3 3. Finishing
C. Outside 18 yards box
Always find perfect balance before fire.
Easy shoots only produce a goal if the goalkeeper makes mistake, so be strong.
Teach your team to keep the shooter’s confidence high after an unsuccessful finishing.
“Good try but next time try the pass!”
“Good effort, let’s do it better next time!”
