28th Sunday in Ordinary Time
October 10 & 11, 2015
Wisdom 7:7-11 I deemed riches nothing in comparison to wisdom.
Psalm 9 “Fill us with your love, O Lord, and we will sing for
joy!”
Hebrews 4:12-13 The word of God discerns reflections and thoughts of
the heart
Mark 10:L17-30 or 10:17-27 Sell what you have, and follow me.
The Jesus we have encountered throughout the year in Mark’s Gospel is very real, down-to-earth.
Today his conversation with the young man who goes away sad at the prospect of giving away
his many possessions leads him to a reflection on how difficult it is to enter God’s
kingdom when one’s heart is taken up with other kinds of possessions. As we listen today to
God’s word, what in our lives keeps us from entering God’s kingdom? How might God help us?
29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
October 17 & 18, 2015
Isaiah 53:10-11
Psalm 33
Hebrews 4:14-16
Mark 10:35-45 or 10:42-45

Today’s Gospel passages is my inspiration for my work with adult
faith formation and evangelization. Why? Because I believe this
Gospel reflects the reality of most Americans today.
First off, this young man wants to be a good person. How true of us
today! Who among us does not strive to be good? Indeed, being a
“good person” is often considered to be the common denominator
underlying all religions. “I can be a part of any faith, or no faith, as
long as I am a good person.
This Gospel tells us that Jesus looked at the young man and loved
him. Wow! What an amazingly powerful image - worthy of
contemplation all by itself. Jesus literally looks at us with love in
his eyes. Will we be changed by Jesus’ loving look?
Of course, I cannot forget that the man walks away sad because he
has many possessions. This Gospel convicts me - convicts us all.
What is it in my life that I am holding on to - that matters more to
me than following God? What prevents me from following Jesus
more closely?

Pro-Life `Reflection
No one can have greater love than to lay down his
life for his friends. ~Jn 15:13
Reflection. Jesus Christ made the sacrifice of
Himself “through the eternal spirit” (Heb 9:14).
It is in the Holy Spirit that we too have the power to
love, which consists in giving ourselves away for the
good of the other. Such is to be our response to the
unborn and to all the vulnerable.
Prayer. Lord may the world see us, Your disciples,
giving our very lives to other human beings. Seeing
this love, may they discover and receive the Spirit
Who inspires it.

Eucharistic Adoration
A pathway to Heaven
“Jesus’ conversation with
St. Faustina Kowalski”
“Come to Me, all of you… Behold, for you I have
established a throne of mercy on earth and from this
throne I desire to enter into you heart. I am not
surrounded by a retinue of guards. You can come to me
at any moment, at any time; I want to speak to you and I
desire to grant you grace.”
“I desire that (Eucharistic) Adoration take place for the
intention of imploring Mercy for the world.”
When St. Faustina was praying before Jesus in the Holy
Eucharist He showed her a vision. Each time a person
entered the chapel and visited Jesus exposed in a
monstrance, she saw His Divine Rays of Love and
Mercy burst forth and encircle the world and everyone
in it with graces and blessings! Through Perpetual
Eucharist Adoration Jesus unleashes His rays of healing
upon us, our families and the whole world.
Jesus revealed to St. Faustina at Adoration that “beneath
these rays (from the Eucharist) a heart will be warmed
even if it were like a block of ice; or hard as rock.”
