Welcome Remarks
On behalf of Local and International faculty, I would like to welcome you to this 20th Annual Asian Course in Temporal Bone / Ear Surgery.
Since 1996, this Annual Asian Course in Temporal Bone / Ear Surgery take place in Bangkok, Thailand.
Dr. Soontorn Antarasena, advisor from Bangkok, and Prof. Jan E. Veldman, international coordinator from Utrecht, The Netherlands, have a long-standing personal relationship. They were the former directors and initiated this basic and advanced course, which dealed with theotologic problems ENT-surgeons face in their daily practice. Together with a core faculty from Europe, U.S.A, Australia and Thailand, clinical aspects are taught and exemplified with lectures, temporal bone dissections and 3-dimension televised life surgery. It is a collaboration between the local faculty from the Center of Excellence in Otolaryngology, Rajavithi Hospital, Bangkok and senior members of the Royal College of Otolaryngologists of Thailand and the Rural Ear, Nose and Throat Foundation in Thailand.
Each year, this course has been adapted to the latest developments in the fields of Otology/Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery. The lectures and temporal bone dissections will take place in an Educational Training Center within the Rajavithi Hospital.
The young Asian generation of ENT surgeons are invited to join the entire course, senior colleagues are invited to join the advanced course.
