Core Values

Education will embark on a transformation that will need collective will and action by teachers, parents & students.

Beyond learning for gradesto learning for mastery

Beyond learning in schoolto learning throughout

life

Beyond learning for workto learning for life

For each of these shifts, there is a need to ensure learning opportunities are accessible to all, whatever the starting point. Bringing out the best

in every child, in every domain of learning, in every school, at every stage of the learning journey, whatever the starting point, to build a better future together.

Creating opportunities for all students to grow in a wider range of domains while ensuring a strong foundation

Ensure that our students have a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, values, character and 21st century competencies

Give every student broad exposure to a whole range of subjects and Co-Curricular Activities

Engage students in applying various domains of knowledge to solve complex, real-life problems in a field of their interest

Beyond Learning for Grades to Learning for Mastery • We must aim to be a nation of Singaporeans

who develop mastery in every field, Singaporeans who are resourceful, inventive and break new ground. This will take a collective effort across our schools, institutions and industry.

Build character and develop a disposition and confidence to live with purpose and spirit

Want our students to develop the disposition and confidence to live with purpose and spirit, to be active contributors and concerned citizens.

Achieve through various programmes such as Co-Curricular Activities, Learning for Life Programme, Character and Citizenship Education and Values-in-Action

Beyond Learning for Work to Learning for Life • Developing deep skills to succeed at work is

important. But life is more than just work. Developing a lively interest in the world around us, in nature and culture, in sports and adventure, in having zest for life and a concern for others are what makes life purposeful and fulfilling.

Singaporeans who take ownership of

learning throughout life.

Teachers and

schools who focus

on holistic

education.

Parents who build on every child’s

strengths and

interests beyond

academics.

Employers who truly

value our people

and help our

people acquire relevant

skills.

And a society that respects every job.
