2015 BASF/Dekalb® Hybrid Fungicide Trial

The BASF Midwest Research Farm, in partnership with BASF Seed

Partners, conducted a Hybrid Fungicide Trial in 2015 that included 54

hybrids with 4 treatments per hybrid. Below are some key observations

from this season’s trial:

• The trial, planted April 17th, received above average rainfall and limited

sunlight in May & June while July & August experienced below average

rainfall with abundant sunshine. These conditions created a favorable

environment for foliar disease pressure to develop. In addition, reduced

solar radiation early in the growing season compromised carbohydrate

production resulting in reduced stalk integrity during grainfill.

• Additional highlights include:

• Average +18.9 bu/A overall yield advantage with combined

Headline Amp® applications vs. +11.7 bu/A in 2014

• Overall yields 6% less than 2014

• Rainfall totals: May- 5.59”, June- 8.35”, July- 2.79”, August- 2.65”

• Rotation: Continuous Corn- 2nd year

• Herbicide: 15oz Verdict pre fb 0.75oz Armezon + 1qt Atrazine post• Nitrogen: 90# preplant UAN w/Limus fb 135# sidedress UAN
