Staying in the Lead
At the 50th Paris Airshow, Embraer announced the second generation of E-Jets, E-Jets E2, with 100 firm orders from airlines around the world and commitments for 265 of the three new aircraft models: E175-E2, E190-E2 &E195-E2. While the E2s inherit the same characteristics that made the first generation of E-Jets a great success, the application of new technology on the new airplanes will, no doubt, help Embraer maintain its global leadership position in regional aviation.

Since the first E-Jet entered service in 2004, nearly 1000 jets are in service with more than 60 airline companies from over 40 countries on five continents. Operators around the world are maximizing the versatility of E-Jets by flying them in a wide range of business applications. Because E-Jets are designed for short turnaround times, the global fleet has a high daily utilization rate. In May 2013, the global fleet achieved a landmark of 10 million flight hours. The remarkable success of the E-Jets family has built a solid foundation for Embraer Commercial Aviation’s future product strategy.

卷首语 A Word from the President
Arriving on the market at the right time with the right products has been Embraer’s philosophy through its more than 40-year
history. It’s also been the driving force behind the company’s effort to be a leader in the global aviation industry.
At the 50th Paris Airshow this year, Embraer announced the launch of E-Jets E2, the second generation of E-Jets. The first
of those three new airplanes is scheduled to enter service in 2018. The news attracted a lot of attention from the market
especially with 100 firm orders and additional commitments for 265 aircraft from airlines around the world. The early strength
of the E2 orders reflects the global success of the E-Jets family and the expectation that the new aircraft will be the right
airplanes at the right time as we approach the next decade.
Today’s fleet of E-Jets has built a solid foundation for the E2s. Since entering revenue service nine years ago, nearly one
thousand E-Jets are in service with more than 60 airline companies from over 40 countries. In May of this year, the global
E-Jets fleet reached a landmark of 10 million flight hours milestone. It’s a tremendous achievement of which we are extremely
proud. In China, 80 E190s are now flying across the country and providing efficient and convenient air transportation to
passengers. The E190s have been instrumental in building the nation’s regional aviation network.

Embraer’s engineers personify Brazil’s century-long pioneering culture in aviation. Their spirit of innovation is evident in the
design of every aircraft. While the E2s inherit the distinguished characteristics that made the first generation of E-Jets a
great success, the new jets also take quantum leaps with the application of new technology. The E2s have innovations in wing
design, engines, flight controls, avionics and cabin environment.
The arrival of E-Jets E2 opens a new chapter for Embraer commercial aviation. The airplanes are sure to further entrench

Embraer CEO Visits COMAC
On April 18 - Mr. Curado visited the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China,
Ltd. (COMAC) and met with Mr. Jin Zhuanglong, the Chairman of COMAC, and
Mr. He Dongfeng, the President of COMAC.
Mr. Curado discussed Embraer's joint efforts with its Chinese partners in China.
He emphasized that although the international aviation industry is facing great
challenges, China's civil aviation market has great potential. Embraer will
further enhance its exchanges with COMAC to explore future prospects for
cooperation.
Mr. Jin Zhuanglong extended his warm welcome to Mr. Curado and his
delegation. During the meeting, Jin reviewed COMAC's cooperation with
international aviation manufacturers. He said that COMAC hoped to strengthen
exchanges with Embraer and looked forward to mutual support on the

巴航工业向工银租赁交付首架由巴西蔚蓝航空公司
运营的 E195 飞机
2013 年 5 月 20 日 — 巴航工业向工银金融租赁有限
公司交付了首架 E195 喷气飞机。根据工银租赁与巴
西蔚蓝航空公司于今年年初签署的五架 E195 飞机售
后回租合作意向书,五架 E195 均将由蔚蓝航空公司
运营。其余四架飞机计划于 2014 年年底前完成交付。
工银租赁于去年 4 月与巴航工业就飞机融资和租赁
合作事宜签署谅解备忘录,并于同年 6 月购买了 10
架莱格赛 650 公务机(包括五架飞机的承诺订单)。
2008 年,巴西蔚蓝航空公司以巴航工业 E- 喷气系列
飞机作为启动机型正式运营,并由此为巴西的航空
运输公司市场带来重大变革。此前巴西国内旅客已

Embraer Delivers First E195 to ICBC Leasing to Be Operated by Azul
20th May - Embraer handed over one E195 to China's ICBC Financial Leasing
Co., Ltd., marking the first delivery of five E195s to be operated by Azul Linhas
Aéreas Brasileiras. The transaction followed the terms of a Letter of Intent for
aircraft sales and lease backs the two parties signed in February 2013. Deliveries
of all five jets are expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
In addition to the five E195s, the ICBC Leasing also purchased ten Legacy 650
large executive jets with five options last June. This follows a Memorandum
of Understanding the company signed with Embraer in April 2012 for aircraft
financing and leasing.
Azul started revenue service by flying E-Jets in 2008. Its business model was
revolutionary in Brazil. Azul adopted a new approach by “pulling out all the
stops.” It offered new non-stop routes with high-frequency flights for domestic
travelers long accustomed to multi-stop flights when travelling north-south. To
date, Azul has become the third largest carrier in Brazil with over 70 E-Jets in its
fleet.
The promising market potential of E-Jets has attracted more Chinese lessors to
add E-Jets to their asset portfolios, including China's CDB Leasing Co., Ltd.

体系的重要构成,旨在通过与客户共同探讨问题、分享
有价值的信息、相互交流经验和知识,与客户携手提升
公司在华机队的运营,保障客户利益。
2013 年 5 月 27 日至 6 月 7 日,巴航工业大中华区及总
部客服团队前往东航江苏、东航武汉、天津航空、河南
航空、南航广州总部及南航新疆分公司及河北航空的主
运营基地进行拜访,举行了客户支援见面会。会议期间,
拜访团队介绍了公司全球客户支援体系及服务提升举
措,分享了全球 ERJ145 及 E190 机队的运营及维护管理
经验,认真听取客户在机队运营方面的经验并就在运营

2013 年 6 月 27 日 — 巴航工业宣布鄂尔多斯通用航空
有限责任公司定购了一架飞鸿 300 轻型喷气公务机,
由此成为该机型在国内的启动用户。飞机预计于今年
第三季度交付。飞鸿 300 于 2012 年 11 月获得中国民
航局型号认证。
成立于 2003 年的鄂尔多斯通用航空是我国五大通用航空
企业之一。目前机队拥有 19 架飞机,已实现安全飞行 3万小时、12800 次飞行循环。
First Phenom 300 to Spread Wings in China
June 27 - Embraer announced that a Phenom 300 light
executive jet will join the fleet of China's Ordos General Aviation Co., Ltd. in the third quarter of 2013. This will be the first aircraft of this model sold in China. The Phenom 300 was certified by the CAAC last November.

服务谅解备忘录
2013 年 7 月 9 日 — 巴航工业日前与其在大中华区首家公务
机授权维护服务中心、美捷香港商用飞机有限公司(Metrojet)签署了莱格赛 500 中型喷气公务机维护服务谅解备忘录,由
此进一步扩大了Metrojet的授权服务范围。自2012年9月以来,
巴航工业已与全球约 20 家维护服务中心签署莱格赛 500 维护
服务谅解备忘录,以期为该机型于 2014 年上半年顺利投入运
营做好准备。
2011 年 8 月,Metrojet 被指定为巴航工业公务机授权服务中心,
为世袭 1000、莱格赛 650 和莱格赛 600 客户提供外场维护和
基地维修服务。该公司目前也托管着三架巴航工业公务机。
Established in 2003, Ordos General Aviation is the top five companies in China's growing general aviation industry. Its 19-aircraft fleet has accumulated more than 30,000 flight hours and over 12,800 cycles.
Embraer MoU with Metrojet on Legacy 500 Maintenance Support
July 9, 2013 – Embraer broaden the scope of cooperation with
Metrojet Ltd., the first authorized service center for executive jets in Greater China, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for maintenance support for the midsize Legacy 500. The move is part of the company's efforts to have all product support in place around the world before the Legacy 500 jet enters service in the first half of 2014. Since September 2012, Embraer has signed MoUs with some twenty service centers worldwide for Legacy 500 product support.
Metrojet became an authorized service provider for the Lineage 1000 and Legacy 600/650 in August 2011. Metrojet also operates three aircraft for Embraer executive jet customers.
2013 Embraer China Face-to-Face Meetings
Annual face-to-face meetings are an important part of Embraer's customer support and service philosophy. Through in-depth discussions of issues in which people share valuable information and exchange experiences, the meetings are part of Embraer's efforts to help airline customers improve fleet performance.
From May 27 to June 7, a customer support team from Embraer China and Embraer headquarters paid visits to the main operation bases of China Eastern Jiangsu, China Eastern Wuhan, Tianjin Airlines, Henan Airlines and China Southern's head offices in Guangzhou and Xinjiang. During the sessions, the team introduced Embraer's global customer support and services improvement programs, shared the operational and maintenance experience of the worldwide ERJ 145 and E-Jets fleets, and had discussions on technical and engineering issues to provide tailor-made solutions.

Some major vendors, including GE, Parker and Liebherr were invited to join the meetings as well. The face-to-face customer discussions enabled both the Embraer support team and vendors to better understand the specific demands of Chinese customers. The meetings enhanced the efficiency of communication and development of issue resolution. That, in turn, will help develop customized solutions and improve the reliability of the fleet.

2013 年 6 月 17 日 — 巴航工业宣布推出 E-Jets E2 系
列飞机。该系列飞机由三种全新机型组成:E175-E2、E190-E2 及 E195-E2。其中 E190-E2 计划于 2018 年上
半年正式服役,而 E195-E2 和 E175-E2 则分别计划于

June 17, 2013 - Embraer announced the launch of the second generation of its E-Jets
family of commercial aircraft and named them E-Jets E2. There are three new
airplanes – the E175-E2, the E190-E2 and the E195-E2. The E190-E2 is expected to
enter service in the first half of 2018. The E195-E2 is slated to enter service in 2019
and the E175-E2 in 2020.
In a typical single-class layout, the E175-E2 was extended by one seat row from the
current-generation E175 and can seat up to 88 passengers. The E190-E2 has the same
106-seat capacity as the E190. The E195-E2 has three more rows compared to the
E195 and can be configured with up to 132 seats.
The application of advanced technologies for engines, wings and avionics on the E2s
brings maximum gains in efficiency to airlines while maintaining commonality with
the current E-Jets. New aerodynamically advanced high-aspect ratio, distinctively
shaped wings, improved systems and avionics (including 4th generation full fly-
by-wire flight controls) and Pratt & Whitney's PurePowerTM Geared Turbofan high
by-pass ratio engines (PW1700G on the E175-E2, PW1900G on the E190-E2 and
E195-E2) will result in double-digit reductions in fuel consumption, emissions, noise
and maintenance costs, and increased aircraft productivity. The E2s will be capable
of achieving similar costs per seat of larger re-engined narrowbody aircraft yet with
significantly lower trip costs. That, in turn, creates new opportunities for airlines to

美国天西航空集团作为启动用户定购巴航工业 100架 E-Jets E2 系列飞机
2013 年 6 月 17 日 — 巴航工业与全球最大的支线航空
公司集团、天西航空集团签订了 100 架 E175-E2 飞机
的确认定单以及 100 架飞机的购买权,订单总量达到
200 架飞机。若所有订单得以确认,按照当前的目录价
格,合同总额将达 93.6 亿美元。今年 5 月,天西航空
定购了 200 架 E175 飞机。新合同的签署使得天西航空
订购的 E- 喷气飞机的潜在订单达到 400 架飞机。该定

Cockpit commonality with the current generation E-Jets was a key driver in
the design definition to ensure a smooth transition for pilots who will fly the
E2. Honeywell's Primus EpicTM 2 advanced integrated avionics system with
large landscape displays, advanced graphics capabilities, and Honeywell's Next
Generation Flight Management System (NGFMS), already in development on
current-generation E-Jets, will provide exceptional pilot situational awareness and
flexibility for continuous innovation on the flight deck.
Known for its comfortable and roomy cabins with no middle seats, the E-Jet
passenger experience will be further enhanced on the E2s. UK design firm
Priestmangoode was contracted to develop the aircraft cabin jointly with Embraer.
The interiors will establish a new benchmark in cabin design, improve the
passenger experience and deliver a more comfortable and improved environment
tailored to passenger needs while maximizing airline operating efficiency.

ILFC Signs LOI for up to 100 E-Jet E2s
June 17, 2013 – Embraer signed a Letter of Intent with International Lease
Finance Corporation (ILFC), a global leader in the leasing and remarketing of
jet aircraft to commercial airlines, for the sale of 25 E190-E2s and 25 E195-
E2s. The LOI also contains options for an additional 25 E190-E2s and 25
E195-E2s.
SkyWest Orders 100 New E-Jet E2s from Embraer as a Launch Customer
June 17, 2013 – Embraer and SkyWest Inc. signed a firm order for 100
E175-E2 aircraft, with another 100 purchase rights, bringing the total potential
of the order to 200 aircraft. If all the orders are exercised, the contract has an
estimated list price value of USD 9.36 billion. This new contract is in addition
to SkyWest's previous order in May 2013 for up to 200 current generation E175
aircraft. The potential SkyWest E-Jets combined order may reach 400 aircraft.
As the first operator to order the E175-E2, SkyWest becomes the launch
customer for that aircraft, one of three E-Jets E2 models. SkyWest of USA is
the largest regional airline group in the world.

of its scheduled regional airline service. Two E170s have
been arranged from ECC Leasing, Embraer's wholly-owned
subsidiary. The new carrier has also purchased one new
E190 from Embraer. The firm order was already included in
Embraer's backlog as an “undisclosed” customer.

Embraer Discloses Firm Order from JAL
June 18, 2013 – Embraer disclosed a firm order from Japan Airlines
(JAL) for another four E170s. The firm order is already included
in Embraer's backlog as an “undisclosed” customer. With this new
agreement, the total number of firm orders for the E170 from JAL is 15
aircraft. The four E170s will be operated by J-AIR, JAL's wholly owned
subsidiary that serves the company's domestic network. The airline
already operates twelve E170s.

and 14 options. Conviasa now has a total of 13 firm orders for the E190 with options for another seven aircraft.
June 18, 2013 – A new commercial airline in Europe, Air Lituanica
of Vilnius, Lithuania, has acquired two E-Jets. The carrier will
launch scheduled service on June 30th with one E170 leased from
a third party. In July, Air Lituanica will add another E-Jet, an
E175, leased from ECC Leasing Company, Ltd., a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Embraer. Air Lituanica will deploy the aircraft on its
planned routes between Vilnius and Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin,
Prague, Munich and Moscow.

EBACE. This is the first time the midsize jet has made a public appearance outside of Brazil.

level of safety. Scheduled to enter service in the first half of 2014, the Legacy 500 has

Delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for the second half of 2013.

and nearly 1,000 jets delivered to more than 60 airline companies
in 43 countries on five continents, the E-Jets family has carried
around 460 million passengers.

for 40 E175s. SkyWest will operate the aircraft under a Capacity
Purchase Agreement (CPA) with United Airlines. Another 60 firm
orders are subject to SkyWest being awarded CPA contracts with
major U.S. airline partners. In addition, the agreement includes
options for another 100 E175s, taking the total order potential up
to 200 airplanes. Delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for the
second quarter of 2014.

United's regional partners under the United Express brand.
April 16, 2013 – FLYNONSTOP of Norway received its first
E190. The aircraft will be used to launch nonstop routes between
Kristiansand and key cities in Southern and Central Europeto tap
into the growing demand for scheduled non-stop air service to/
from Norway. With the E190 acquisition from FLYNONSTOP,
there are now 27 customers from 17 European countries flying
Embraer commercial jets, including 23 E-Jet operators.

On-the-Job Training at Embraer Headquarters
Since August 2012, HEAI has been sending groups of employees to Embraer
headquarters for on-the-job training. HEAI employees responsible for test
flights, interiors, avionics systems and painting have completed on-the-job
training at Embraer and were certified to be qualified in their disciplines. The
objective of the training was to help the employees improve their technical
expertise, to better understand the production process of the Legacy 650 and to
learn more about the culture of business aviation.
哈尔滨安博威于今年 1 月初正式启动首架莱格赛
650 大型喷气公务机的组装工作。目前已经完成
发动机的吊装、飞控系统的安装与调试、空调与引气
系统及起落架系统的电气调试等工作,同时机翼机身

In January, HEAI started assembling the first Legacy 650 executive jet and,
to date, production is on schedule. Installation of engines, installation and
calibration of the flight control system, and the electronic testing of the air
conditioning and pneumatic systems and landing gear have been completed.
HEAI is proceeding with modifications to the wings, fuselage and tank fairing,
and the aircraft pressurization testing as well.
To ensure smooth progress for the jet's production and quality, technical
experts from Embraer headquarters with experience on the assembly of the
Legacy travelled to HEAI for on-site support and to provide training for HEAI
employees.

improvements to the current E-Jets family.
That helped to make the E175 the best-
selling aircraft in the family this year – since
January, 364 firm orders and options have
been placed by three airlines in the United
States.
The most recent transaction, with a potential
for 200 aircraft, was signed with SkyWest
Airlines, the biggest regional airline in the
world.
Arriving on the market at the right time
with the right product has been an Embraer
philosophy throughout its history. The
development of the ERJ 145 and E-Jets
families is the fruit of in-depth consultations
with customers to know what type of
product the market needed and then
designing airplanes to meet those customer
requirements.
That’s how it was with the first generation of
E-Jets which set new standards in technology
and comfort among aircraft in the 70 to 120-
seat jet category. Until then, airlines were
limited to flying the types of airplanes that
were available in the market and not those
that they really needed. They saw the benefits
of the new E-Jets family whether for right-

sizing operations, developing new markets or
substituting older and inefficient aircraft.
“If there is anything that we have learned
to do well over these past 40 years, besides
making airplanes of course, has been to pay
attention to the needs of customers,”explains
Paulo César Silva, President and CEO of
Embraer Commercial Aviation. “We are the
leaders in our segment and we will defend
that market leadership for jets with up to 120
seats by delivering the second generation of
E-Jets, which are the best airplanes in the
category, like we are now doing. ”
Called “E2”, this second generation of E-Jets
is expected see the first deliveries in 2018.
The E2s will follow the family concept and
will comprise three aircraft models: E175-E2,
E190-E2, and E195-E2, with capacity from
80 to 130 seats.

When it launched the E-Jets family,
Embraer surpr ised the market by
introducing characteristics found only
on larger aircraft, like the double-bubble
concept which, although not new, was
used for the first time in a family of jets of
this size. Following that innovation, fly-
by-wire commands and options such as
Head-up Display (HUD) technology, which
provides a significant increase in situational
awareness, were adapted from military
aviation. Passenger comfort and operational
efficiency were at the top of the list of the
design philosophy.
It was by listening to customers that
Embraer decided on some of the definitions
for the E-Jets E2. Besides new-generation
engines , the requirements included
commonality with the current E-Jets family.
A Step Forward
Consequently, the Company selected
the Honeywell Primus Epic®2 integrated
avionics system, an evolution of the Primus
Epic® system found on the current aircraft.
This ensures a high level of commonality
for pilots and significantly lowers training
costs for the airlines.
In technological terms, like the current
generation of E-Jets, the E2s will be
equipped with optional dual HUDs. The
five 8” by 10” monitors on today’s E-Jets
will be replaced by four larger 13” by 10”
monitors that will have capabilities for
advanced graphics.
Honeywell’s Next Generation Flight
Management System (NGFMS), already
under deve lopment on the cu r ren t
generation of E-Jets, will provide greater
capability for flight planning, navigation,
and aircraft performance.
New PW1700G and PW1900G engines
will be manufactured and supplied by Pratt
& Whitney. The E2s will also have new
advanced aerodynamic wings, a modern
integrated electronic full fly-by-wire flight
control system, and other features that will
result in double-digit improvements in fuel
consumption, reduced maintenance costs,
fewer emissions, and lower external aircraft
noise levels.
“We continue selecting suppliers and are
moving ahead with program definitions.
What we will see is a family of latest
generation jets that will have much more
than a replacement of the engines,” says
Luís Carlos Affonso, Senior Vice President
Operations & COO, Commercial Aviation.
With a new interior, the E2s will offer even
greater passenger comfort and convenience
but will maintain the same characteristics
that made the first generation of E-Jets
so popular around the world. Those
features include two-by-two seating and
the possibility of configuring a separate
premium cabin, as well as individual
onboard entertainment monitors with
satellite radio and TV.
Despite their more than nine-year history
of operations, new customers continue
to discover the potential of Embraer
E-Jets even for brand-new applications,
like scheduled tourism flights. Whatever
the business model, current and future
customers will continue to appreciate all of
the versatility and technology offered by
the current and second-generation E-Jets.

In 40 years, Embraer has taken a giant leap forward in the
commercial aviation sector. It went from producing a 19-seat
turboprop to a jet with up to 122 seats, a move that placed the
Company on another category among aircraft manufacturers.
Going back it time, it was the success of the 19-seat Bandeirante
turboprop that paved the way for Embraer’s global reputation as a
regional aircraft manufacturer. Although it was conceived for the
Brazilian Air Force (FAB), the Company soon saw the potential
of the aircraft for the commercial aviation market. In Brazil, the
Bandeirante was used to link hundreds of cities spread across the
vast country. It then went on to successfully serve in Europe and
the United States, which experienced tremendous growth in the
regional aviation sector in the 1970s.
When it saw the potential of this market, Embraer designed a
bigger turboprop with capacity for 30 seats and a pressurized
cabin. The EMB 120 Brasilia was revolutionary in its class and
established new standards for regional aviation when it came
to the market in 1986. More than 350 Brasilias were delivered
worldwide and a large share of them continues to operate.
SkyWest has over 40 of the planes in service.
In the 90s, the Company developed the ERJ 145, a 50-seat jet,
which was a hit especially in the U.S. market where labor clauses
restricted the operations of regional airlines to jets up to that
capacity.
At the turn of the century, the Company saw another market
niche opportunity in commercial aviation, which led it to develop
the first generation of E-Jets. The new aircraft with 70 to 120
seats established the capacity category as we know it today
and, moreover, forever changed the way the industry looked at
Embraer. “For us, our E-Jets are much more than regional jets. We
see them as small narrow-bodies, which is a concept that is now
widely accepted by the industry,” comments Paulo César Silva,
President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation.

大型枢纽需要足够的本地客流与中转客流支持。
对于本地客流,需要得到临近的大都市或城市群
的支持。广州枢纽本地客流主要为珠江三角洲地区庞
大的本地旅客群。然而在这一地区,大型机场之密集
程度全球罕见,临近有大型的香港和深圳机场,以及
略小一些的珠海和澳门。各机场的辐射范围严重重叠,

100-Seat Jets Help Strengthen the Hub for Network AirlinesThe role of the E190 in China Southern’s "Canton Route" Strategy
The most powerful competitive edge for mainline airlines lies
in the scope of its network to offer passengers a variety of
route and schedule alternatives. These can be either via the airline
itself or in association with its alliance partners on non-stop or
connecting flights. A hub is the core of the network. While the
correct hub strategy is the key to the success of an airline, right-
sized aircraft play an essential role in the success of that strategy.
China Southern Airlines is working hard on its "Canton Route"
strategy to build Guangzhou into a comprehensive international
hub. The hub includes short and long domestic and international
routes which require airplanes of different seat capacities.
Consequently, the airline has deployed its A380 on long-range
international routes rather than domestic routesas before. Ten
recently acquired 100-seat Embraer E190s are now in Guangzhou
to feed the hub with more local and transit passengers. The
implementation of the strategy is helping the airline strengthen
its control over the Guangzhou hub and increase its share
of international passengers. There is still much room for
improvement in the next few years if China Southern continues to
formulate and implement the right network and fleet strategies.
China Southern Encounters Fierce Competition in Guangzhou
A large hub needs a great number of local and transit passengers.
Typically, local passengers come from nearly cities and the
surrounding areas. The Guangzhou hub is located in the Pearl
River Delta which is the source of a huge number of local
passengers. There are so many large airports in the delta, like
Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and relatively smaller airports,
like Zhuhai and Macao, that the region is unique in the world.
The networksof each airport overlap and that leads to intense
competition.
Domestic and international transit passengers at Guangzhou find
connections better at Beijing and Shanghai. Those airports have
larger networks which make them more attractive. Additionally,
flights via Guangzhou to Europe or America are 1,500-2,000km
or 1.5-2 hours longer which makes it more expensive to carry
those connecting passengers.
For lucrative 6th Freedom Traffic, even on China Southern's
services on the most competitive route between Oceania and
Europe (known as the "Kangaroo Route"), there are many carriers
eager to carry long-haul passengers – Emirates, Qatar Airways,
Singapore Airlines, British Airways, Thai Airways International,
Malaysia Airlines and QANTAS.
China Southern is searching for a way to get an advantage among
such fierce competition in order to attract more passengers on its
domestic and international networks.
The Right Capacity for Market Demand
To attract more local and transit passengers, network airlines
need to establish hub dominance with a wide range of routes,
efficient transfers and a fleet ofright-sized airplanes. China
Southern does not claim to have an absolute advantage at its
Guangzhou hub since it only has a 50% share of capacity and a
network that is not particularly broad. Flight frequency is also
quite low. Fewer than three each-way daily flights are scheduled
on nearly 70% of the routes (see Chart 1) and the network is
limited. Approximately 70% of all capacity is deployed to serve
primary and secondary markets. Many medium and small-sized
markets remain untapped.

靠前的市场。很多中型市场和有潜力的中小型市场还
未顾及。
围绕广州枢纽,南航也存在运力与市场需求不匹
配的问题。一方面,航班频次过少 ;另一方面,也存
在每班平均座位数过大的情况(如图 2 所示)。缺少
座级合理的飞机是南航目前进一步发展广州枢纽的主
要制约因素之一,其 110 座级以下飞机仅占整个机队
的 6.7%。
为增强对枢纽辐射范围内市场的控制力,南航可
通过引进座级更加合理的飞机增加并优化频次,同时
开辟新市场为干线和远程航线输送更多旅客。
首先,应当增加其在广州的网络深度。即增加并
优化频次,衔接多个航班波并实现双向衔接,双向输
送更多旅客,提高市场占有率和控制力。
其次,应当扩展网络广度。开辟更多二、三线甚
至一些中转客流较多的四线市场,以及东南亚市场,
增加网络的广度,以增加经广州中转的客源。
再者,可进一步优化枢纽结构。为保证航班衔接
的最大化,可考虑六进六出(四大二小)的航班波,
如果空域、时刻、登机口等限制条件太多,也可考虑
滚动航班波。大部分市场需要每天至少三个航班才能
满足中转旅客的双向衔接需求,南航可将自己的航班
波与代码共享航班分散在不同的时段,为旅客搭建更
便捷的中转平台,从而吸引更多的中转客流。
而最为重要的一点,应当增加座级适当的机型。
考虑到旅客需求及市场培育的需要,在成长型市场
每天至少应安排 2-3 个航班。然而传统窄体飞机在
三线、四线市场会出现座级过大、上座率低的问题。
而 100 座级 E190 飞机不仅在座级上能够满足此类市
场的需求,同时,相较传统窄体飞机,E190 运营成
本低约 30%。此外,E190 飞机的跑道能力、高温高
原性能完全能够满足三、四线机场普遍存在的机场
设施受限等问题。E190 飞机过站时间更短,有助于
提高飞机利用率和中转效率。而在市场培育成熟之
后,E190 则可与较大型飞机交叉运营,以高度灵活
的机队搭配方案解决淡旺季、高低时段运力不足或
运力过剩的情况。
目前,南航已经从巴航工业引入了 20 架 100 座级的 E190 飞机,其中 10 架部署于广州,用于为其广
州枢纽提供优化频次的航班及对中转旅客的支持,帮
助南航开拓新的市场,目前已在枢纽支持方面取得了
良好效果。为有效实施航班优化方案,南航或可引进
更多 100 座级的飞机,并开通更多到新市场的航班,
进一步强化其在广州枢纽的主导权及控制力。与此同
时,南航应将现有航班和新增航班计划相结合,对枢
纽结构进行优化,充分利用资源,开发多航班波或滚
动航班波的枢纽结构,扩大其广州枢纽对本地市场和
中转市场的辐射范围。

At Guangzhou, the carrier's fleet capacity is not well matched
to market demand. On one hand, there are not enough flight
frequencies. On the other hand, the number of seats per flight
exceeds actual demand (see Chart 2.) The absence of right-
sized aircraft is one of the main factors that restrict further
development of China Southern's Guangzhou hub. Aircraft with
fewer than 110 seats account for only 6.7%of the airlines’ fleet.
To improve the effectiveness of its Guangzhou hub, China
Southern would need to have more right-sized airplanes.
Those would help it increase flight frequencies and optimize
operations, and also allow it to explore new markets to feed
trunk and long-haul routeswith more passengers.
Firstly, it is can increase frequencies and optimize departure
times to connect with several banks for better two-way transfers.
This would facilitate the carriage of more passengers on trunk
and long-haul routes, and grow market share.
Secondly, it could expand itsnetwork to second, third tier and
even fourth tier domestic cities with more transit passengers,
and open markets in Southeast Asia to feed Guangzhou.
Thirdly, China Southern can further optimize its hub by maximizing
connectivity and adopting six fly-in and six fly-out (four large
and two small) banks (waves) of flight arrivals and departures.
Operating banks of flights eases the restrictions on airspace and
airport gate facilities during peak times. Banks and code-share
flights can be scheduled throughout the day to avoid peaking.
Having at least three flights per day in most markets easily satisfies
the same-day round-trip needs of connecting passengers.
Most important, China Southern needs to increase the number of
right sized aircraft in its fleet. Considering the ever growing market
demand, at least 2-3 flights should be scheduled to each city every
day. While the narrow-body aircraft operating in third and fourth-
tier markets are apparently oversized, the 100-seat E190 not only
meets market demand in terms of seat capacity, it reduces operating
costs by 30%. Moreover, the take-off and landing and hot and high
altitude performance of the E190 fully meets the requirements of
airports with limited facilities in third and fourth tier cities. The
E190's short turn-around time helps improve utilization and the
efficient transfer of passengers. Once a marketmatures with more
traffic, the flexibility of the 100-seat E190 can allow China Southern
to operate the airplane in parallel with larger mainline aircraft to
manage changes in seasonal and time-of-day passenger demand and
thereby optimizing fleet capacity.
Currently, China Southern has 20 E190s in its fleet, ten of which
are operating in Guangzhou to optimize flight frequencies,
support transit passengers, and develop new markets with lower
risk. Positive results have been achieved. In order to effectively
implement the fleet and flight optimization plan, China Southern
can acquire more 100-seat aircraft to open new routes in new
markets and enhance its share at the Guangzhou hub. At the
same time, it can also optimize its Guangzhou operations by
integrating existing flights with new flights and make full use
of available resources to develop multi-wave connection banks.
These actions will help the carrier expand its influence in both
local and transit markets.

企业均利用 E- 喷气飞机替换老旧机型、开辟新航线、为干
线网络输送客源等。
德国汉莎航空集团是欧洲最大的 E- 喷气飞机运营商,
旗下 45 架 E195 飞机分别由汉莎支线航空家族的几位成员,
即汉莎城市航线公司(Lufthansa CityLine)、多洛米蒂航空
公司(Air Dolomiti)和奥格斯堡航空公司(AugsburgAirways)
运营。

班频次执飞着这一三角航线 50% 以上的航班!
共和航空控股公司根据其与国内主要航空公司的协议,
拥有全球最大规模的 E- 喷气飞机机队。2013 年 1 月,共
和航空控股公司更是与巴航工业签署了一份 47 架 E175 飞
机的销售合同。该合同还包括另外 47 架飞机的承诺定单,
由此 E175 飞机的潜在定单达 94 架。新定单的敲定将使共
和航空控股公司拥有 179 架 E- 喷气飞机,其中包括 72 架
E170 和 107 架 E175。若承诺定单转为确认定单,则共和航
空旗下 E- 喷气飞机总数将达 226 架。
在南美洲,利用巴西境内两大航空企业塔姆航空(TAM)
和戈尔航空(GOL)只重视大城市之间的航空运输,缺乏
合适座级的飞机执飞中小型城市和机场 , 对于更为广大的二
鹰击长空 E-喷气系列飞机实现一千万飞行小时里程碑

Since the first E-Jet entered revenue service, the family of
aircraft has made its home in customer fleets around the world,
from north (Canada in North America), Oceania (Australia), east (the
Middle East and Asia) and south (Latin America). After a little more
than nine years in operation, the global fleet achieved a landmark
10 million flight hours in May 2013 with an average mission
completion rate of 99.9% and seven million flight cycles.
E-Jets are flying in a wide range of markets and business
applications. In addition to providing low-cost capacity in low
and medium-volume markets, airlines are scheduling the E190 in
parallel with larger mainline aircraft to manage changes in seasonal
and time-of-day passenger demand. E-Jets can also be used to help
rightsize fleets, develop new routes with lower risk and to replace
older aircraft.
With nearly one thousand jets delivered to more than 60 airline
companies in over 40 countries on five continents, the E-Jets family
has carried around 460 million passengers to date.
In Europe, the Lufthansa Group, KLM, Régional (a subsidiary
of Air France) and other airlines are using E-Jets to replace older
aircraft, explore new markets and feed their mainline services.
The Lufthansa Group and its partners own the largest fleets of E-Jets
in Europe. The 45 E195s are operated by members of the Lufthansa
Regional family, includingLufthansa CityLine, Air Dolomiti and
Augsburg Airways.
These E-Jets are helping the carriers to optimize their fleets and
build a well-connected network in Europe that feeds the long-haul
mainline routes of the Lufthansa Group. Villafranca-based Air
Dolomiti uses its E195s to link its Italian network to Lufthansa's
Munich hub in Germany. Lufthansa CityLine's E195s fly feeder
flights for Lufthansa's longhaul network, developing new routes and
expanding Lufthansa's regional business.
In North America where regional aviation is well developed,
there arenearly 300 E-Jets flying with Air Canada, US Airways,
US Airways Express, United Express, Delta Connection, Jet Blue
Airways and American Eagle.
On the iconic New York-Boston-Washington shuttle routes, the
most famous business travel sectors in the USA, nearly half of all
E-Jets Family Achieves 10 Million Flight Hours

天津航空是国内 E190 机型的启动用户,也亚洲地区最

After several years, passenger volume on some of Tianjin's
monopoly routes, like Xi'an-Yulin, has grown and attracted the
attention of competitors with larger aircraft. In the face of more
competition, the Tianjin has increased the number of flights to
meet demand and retain its share of business travelers who value
time and frequency. As a regional aircraft, the E190 has the right
number of seats which, when deployed in the right markets, can
be more economical than high-frequency larger jetsand more
comfortable, too.
Operators around the world are maximizing the versatility of E-Jets
to fly in a wide range of business applications. Because E-Jets
are designed for short turnaround times, the global fleet has a high
daily utilization rate (Azul's E-Jets each fly an average of nearly 12
hours per day) that helped contribute to the 10 million flight hour
milestone.

departures are operated by Embraer E-Jets. While Pan Am, New
York Air and the Trump Shuttle have long since disappeared from
those markets with their B727 and DC9 fleets, Delta Air Lines and
US Airways have demonstrated staying power with their E-Jets that
depart, like clockwork, every hour of each business day.
Republic Airways Holdings Inc., which operates under contract
for all of the U.S. major airlines, has the largest fleet of E-Jets in
the world. In January2013, it signed a contract for 47 E175s. The
agreement also includes options for an additional 47 E175s that
would bring the total order, if all options are exercised, to 94 aircraft.
With this new order, the Republic Airways E-Jet fleet will be
comprised of 72 E170s and 107E175s for a total of 179 E-Jets (and
226 if all options confirmed).
In Latin America, before Azul Linhas Aéreas started flying, Brazil's
two major airlines, TAM and GOL, focused on serving large cities.
Medium and small-sized cities had either no air service or few flights
since those airlines had aircraft that were too big and uneconomical
for those markets. In 2008, Azul started revenue service with a fleet
of E190s. It was a revolutionary move since the carrier offered
new non-stop, high-frequency flights for domestic travelers long
accustomed to multi-stops when travelling north-south. Its smaller-
capacity aircraft allowed it to access secondary routes that, for
the first time, introduced affordable air travel to a segment of the
population that had never flown before.
The right market positioning helped Azul achieve tremendous
success. In May 2012 after it acquired Trip Airlines, a small regional
carrier, Azul became the third largest airline in Brazil with a network
covering entire country.
In China, ever since the first E190 arrived in the country, Tianjin
Airlines, China Southern, Henan Airlines and Hebei Airlines have
added E-Jets to their fleets.
Tianjin Airlines was the launch customer for the E190 in China and
also operates the largest fleet of E-Jets in Asia. As the first Chinese
airline to start flying exclusively regional services, Tianjin Airlines
has taken full advantage of the E190's range capability and capacity
to explore new routes to second and third tier cities. On several of
those routes, Tianjin Airlines is the only carrier. The airline stations
its 50 E-Jets in bases inSouth East, South West and Central China
and is building a well-connected regional network across the country.
In 2011, Tianjin Airlines received the “Best Regional Aviation
Airline in China” award by Skytrax.

On May 30th, Embraer marked its 13th anniversary in
China. Barely known thirteen years ago, the decade-long
journey has rewarded Embraer China not only with recognition
for its leading position in regional aviation in the country, but also
for significant gains in the executive aircraft market over the past
few years. No doubt, an efficient and unified elite team of people
is the driving force for these achievements. It is the most valuable
asset of Embraer.
Since 2010, the company has had a tradition of electing the best
performing employees. The distinction recognizes their outstanding
contributions in the past year and serves to extend our gratitude to
their family members for their long and steady support.
On the occasion of the 13th anniversary, three Embraer China
employees have received the Best Performer of the Year award for
2012. They may appear to be just regular people doing their regular
jobs. Yet, their year-long efforts reflect their unwavering spirit and
the responsibilities that are expected of them. Being humble with
sheer determination and modest temperament, they have won the

The Marketing & Sales department is the cornerstone for the development
of a company. It is especially true for Embraer. In 2000, when Embraer
entered the China market, the concept of regional airlines had just begun
to develop. Undoubtedly, it was a challenging task for Embraer to make
people in the industry understand the concept and to promote aircraft
manufactured in a developing country like Brazil.
Over the past decade, Guo Qing led his team, actively promoting the
concept of regional aviation among government authorities, educational
institutions and airline customers. Combining the successful experience
from Europe and America where regional aviation is well developed
with the business environment in China, he and his team actively
promoted the philosophy of regional airlines, listened to customer
requirements and offered customized solutions. Currently, Embraer has
almost an 80% market share of China's regional airline market. That
success is owed mainly to the marketing strategy department.

In 2009, Yang Haibo joined Embraer as a field support
representative (FSR) and provided on-site support for customers
in Tianjin and Shijiazhuang, among others. Today, Yang takes
charge of supporting the operation of the fleet of Tianjin Airlines,
the largest operator of Embraer jets in Asia. When talking
about work he said, “While the FSR needs to focus on his own
technological capabilities, he is also more like a communication
bridge between the company and its customers. Their words and
deeds reflect the corporate image.”

Michael Chen,

In February 2007, Michael Chen joined Embraer providing on-
site support and making the rounds to cities like Xi'an, Tianjin and
Guangzhou. Today, he is responsible for the on-site support of
Embraer's fleet at China Southern and China Eastern. During his six
years of on-site support, he has faced numerous challenges but has
always been optimistic and open-minded. “Each representative not
only provides technical support to customers, but more important,
communicates and coordinates all issues relevant to aircraft operations,
including spare parts and training. This requires each representative to
make overall arrangements and complete each task efficiently.”

for his customers. His technical capacity and tireless work attitude
won him compliments from his customers. Since China Southern began
to introduce 20 E190s in August 2011, Chen and his team carried out

2013 年 5 月 3 日,巴航工业大中华区约 50 名员工参与了
公司第四届以“守护绿色、环抱蓝天”为主题的植树活动。“落
其实者思其树,饮其流者怀其源”。植树活动寄语的是巴航工
业大中华区全体员工守护地球、回馈社会的拳拳之情。
Thankfulness for the source of all things beneficial and
sustainable development has been core values of Chinese
society since ancient times. Companies, as good corporate
citizens, have social responsibilities that cover its employees and
their families, and the community, too.
Since it enter the Chinese market in 2000, Embraer has achieved
great success over the past thirteen years with thanks to strong
support from many social circles. As part of its sustainable
development program for the benefit of the community, Embraer
China has been organizing annual tree-planting activities since
2010. The company established an area known as the “Embraer
Corporate Forest” on the outskirts of Beijing in hopes of making a
lasting contribution to environmental protection.
On May 3, 2013, around fifty Embraer China employees took part in
the company's 4th tree-planting activity. The theme was “protecting
the earth & embracing the blue sky.” There is an old Chinese saying
- “those who pick fruit shall not forget the tree, and those who drink
water shall be grateful for its source.” The tree planning and corporate
forestation efforts reflect the wishes of all Embraer China employees to
protect the environment and give back to society.
As Guan Dongyuan, Senior Vice President of Embraer and President of
Embraer China, put it, “The development of a company is connected to
the social environment, which is especially true in a modern society as
it comes from the community and is destined to give back to the society.
As a corporate citizen, it should actively involve itself in solving social
problems and making its due contributions to the progress of all of
