1. Trainings organized / imparted:
3 days Scientific Goat Farming training was organized from 27th-29th Nov.2014 by the
Instructional Livestock Farm Complex & Dept. of Livestock Production & Management,
B.V.C., Goregaon. All the theory lectures were delivered by the experts through Power point
presentation regarding Feeding, Breeding & Management. The hands on practice was
covered at Goat Unit, ILFC, Goregaon. Certificates were distributed by the hand of Dr. A. M.
Paturkar, Associate Dean, BVC at the end of the training. 29 Farmers, Entrepreneurs,
Livestock owners & Industry persons participated in the training. The training was delivered
by Dr. H. Y. Palampalle, Dr. A. H. Kodape & Dr. S. S. Chopade
2. Workshop / Conferences / Seminar organized / Participated:
Dept. of Nuclear Medicine including Radio-Isotope Laboratory, BVC organized
orientation Programme on "Radiation Protection and Safety in Veterinary Practices".
Lectures on topics like Basic radiation physics, general safety in nuclear medicine and
radioactive waste management and Radiological emergencies were arranged. Dr. A. M.
Paturkar, Associate Dean inaugurated the programme, Dr. R. V. Gaikwad, Professor of
Medicine & In-charge , Nuclear Medicine & Dr. P. R. Chaudhari, ACTREC, Mumbai were
the dignitaries on the dias.
3. Awards / Achievements:
Students of Bombay Veterinary College, Nikita Pujari, Siddhi Anekar, Shreya Buduk,
Sadhvi Bandkar, Gaurav Khandekar, Mayur Markad & Priyesh Pawar won Gold Medal in
Skit & Yash Sawla won Gold Medal in Photography in 12th
Inter University Youth Festival
Indradhanushya 2014 at Sant. Gadgebaba University, Amravati.
4. Camps:
1. Bakri-Id Vaccination Camp
On occasion of Bakri-Id, vaccination cum treatment camp was conducted on 01st
October, 2014 & 04th October, 2014 at Lucky Hotel, Bandra, Mumbai under the guidance of
Dr. A. M. Paturkar, Dr. R. J. Chaudhari, NSS Programme Co-ordinator & Dr. Sawant
M.N., Assistant Professor, Dept. of Extension B.V.C. Several cases were treated during
the camp.
2. Regular NSS Camp
Regular NSS camp was under taken at Vikramgadh, Palghar under the guidance of Dr. A.
M. Paturkar, Associate Dean, Bombay Veterinary College, Parel, Mumbai, Dr. R. J.
Chaudhari, NSS Programme Co-ordinator & Dr. Sawant M.N., Assistant Professor, Dept.of
Extension B.V.C. More than 200 animals were treated and vaccined. The NSS volunteers
were given the demonstration on Loose Housing, Animal Age, Vaccination process &
Deworming during the camp.
5. Important Celebration:
1. Swacha Bharat Abhiyan
On occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti 02nd October, 2014 Swacha Bharat Abhiyan
(Cleanliness Day) was conducted at Bombay Veterinary College, Parel, Mumbai under the
guidance of Dr. A. M. Paturkar. The Staff, Students & Alumni together cleaned the in and
around campus of Bombay Veterinary College.
2. "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas" Celebration
On the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas" was
celebrated as a tribute to the iron man of India by all the staff members along with NSS
students on 31-10-2014, Friday at 11 O'clock in the Amphi Theatre at Parel campus.
Dr. R. J. Chaudhari, NSS coordinator briefed the participants regarding the importance of
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and about the work done by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel before and
after the independence for the national integrity of India. Dr. P. L. Dhande, Associate
Dean, BVC conveyed the message of unity, safety and security to all the students.
Postgraduate student, Dr. Jabbar Abdul expressed the efforts taken by various patriots in
building the whole nation. After this Dr. P. L. Dhande, Associate Dean, BVC along with
academic and non academic staff members and NSS students took the Oath about
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in Hindi. Vote of thanks was delivered by NSS coordinator.
3. Swachha Bharat Abhiyan
As per the directives by Hon'ble Prime Minister, Swacha Bharat Abhiyan (Cleanliness
Day) was conducted at Bombay Veterinary College, Parel, Mumbai on 15-11-2014 under
the guidance of Associate Dean, Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai. The Staff &
Students together cleaned the surrounding area allotted to them around campus of
Bombay Veterinary College.
4. "Manahshakti" Programme
“Manah Shakti” is an organization located at lonavala that cultivates & spreads science
and intellect based thoughts among the people. The disciples of Swami Vidyanand pay
visits to various educational and social institutes to present the evidence based scientific
tricks that nourishes the strength of the mind. As a part of this activities, a series of three
lectures was organized at Bombay Veterinary College, Parel, Mumbai on 10th, 12
th & 13
th
November, 2014 viz I) freedom from stress II) Problems faced by students and their
solutions and III) Ill effects of Jealousy. Students & Staff of the college were present on
the occasion in large numbers.
5. University Day Celebration
University Day was celebrated in Mumbai Veterinary College, Mumbai on 3rd
December, 2014. Flag hoisting ceremony was done by the auspicious hands of Dr. A. M.
Paturkar, Associate Dean, Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai. The Staff, Students &
Alumni attended the Celebration.
6. World Animal Day
The Department of Livestock Production Management organized Debate Competition
on the topic entitled “Keeping pet animal is just a fashion or a need of the society” for
the students on the occasion of World Animal Day at Amphi theatre, Bombay
Veterinary College, Parel, Mumbai on 4th
October 2014. Seven students of B.V.Sc. &
A.H. degree programme of the college participated in competition. A panel of judges
evaluated the performance of the students and declared first three winners of the
competition. Ms.Gloraine Carvalho, Mr. Niwas Yadav and Ms.Vrinda Ambike secured I,
II & III position and received cash prize of Rs. 1000/, Rs. 700/ and Rs. 500/ respectively
with certificates. The other students also received certificates for their participation. The
judges committee members viz., Dr. S. D. Moregaonkar, Professor, Dept. Of Pathology
(Chairman), Dr. B. N. Ramteke, Professor, Dept. Animal Nutrition (Member) and Dr. D.
G. Dighe, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of Vet. Medicine (Member) took lot of efforts in
evaluating the students’ performance in competition. Dr. S. S. Chopade, Professor, Dept.
Of LPM introduced about the world animal day and Dr. N. N. Zade, Director of
Extension & Training, MAFSU, Nagpur guided the house on animal welfare and other
animal related programmes to be organized for the welfare of animals. Dr. A. M.
Paturkar, Associate Dean, Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai presided over the
function as Chairman and helped in organization of the event. Dr. Shveta Patwardhan,
Assistant Professor LPM anchored the programme and lastly finished the programme by
vote of thanks. All the expenses of the programme were sponsored by Indo Safe
Pharmaceutical Co. Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai

Bai Ratanbai Gharda Oration
26th
Bai Ratanbai Gharda Oration was celebrated in Bombay Veterinary College
on 11th December 2014 by Bombay Veterinary College Alumni Association. The
Chairman of the Oration was Dr. A. T. Sherikar, Hon’ble founder & Ex- Vice chancellor,
MAFSU, Nagpur and President of the function was Dr. A. K. Misra, Hon’ble Vice
chancellor, MAFSU, Nagpur. Lecture on the topic “Opportunities in Meat Sector in
India” was delivered by Dr. Vivek V. Kulkarni, Director, National Research Centre on
Meat, Hyderabad. A technical bulletin of the association “Vetline” was published during
the oration. The students, staff & alumni participated in the programme.
8. N.S.S. / N. C. C. Activities:

2. Special NSS Camp
Special NSS camp for the academic year 2014-15 was organized in Dahanu and
Palghar blocks of Palghar districts between 5th
Decemer 2014 to 11th
December 2014. In this
camp total 43 NSS volunteers were allotted for this camp. Special NSS camp held at various
Villages of Waghadi, Sonale,Mahagaon, Shigaon and Bandhghar etc. in Palghar district
organized by NSS coordinator in collaboration with the Department of Veterinary and
Animal Husbandry Extension Education along with the Clinical Departments of Bombay
Veterinary College and the State Animal Husbandry Department. During these camps 200
goats were vaccinated against PPR, enterotoxaemia, 1700 cattle against FMD, and 100 birds
for Ranikhet Disease. NSS Volunteers were introduced to the care and management practices
of Horses, Quail, Pig, fishes and Azolla cultivation was demonstarated to NSS volunteers
by the concerned entrepreneurs. The activities carried out during the Camp greatly benefited
the farmers and the students equally.
9. Students Corner:
1. Dr. Kirti Tambe, P.G., student of the department of Veterinary Pharmacology &
Toxicology bagged J. V. Anjaria Young Scientist Award in 14th
Annual conference of
Indian Society of Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology held at Guwahati from 2nd
to
4th December, 2014
1. Dr. Shilpi Singh, P.G., student from department of Veterinary Microbiology, received
best poster presentation award in Indian Association of Veterinary Microbiologist,
Immunologiest & Specialist in Infectious Diseases (IAVMI), 28th
Annual Convention and
International Conference on Challenges & Opportunities in Animal Health at the Face of
Globalization and Climate change held at DUVASU, Mathura from 30th
October to 1st
November, 2014.
10. Visit of Dignitaries:
1. Dr. Rajiv Bhatkar, E.C. Member Visit to Bombay Veterinary College
Dr. Rajiv Bhatkar, E.C. Member visited department of Microbiology, Parasitology,
Pathology, AGB, Surgery & Radiology Laparoscopy Lab, Pharmacology & Toxicology
and other departments of Bombay Veterinary College on 11-11-2014 for inspection &
discussed about the new Schemes & Projects going on in Bombay Veterinary College,
Mumbai.
2. Dr. S. N. Jha, Project coordinator, AICRP - PHT visit to B.V.C., Mumbai
Dr. S. N. Jha, Project coordinator, AICRP - PHT visited the department of Veterinary
Public Health on 21st Nov. 2014 and appreciated the efforts taken by project staff for the
development and smooth conduct of project.

Inauguration of Late Dr. Prakash Bhagade Cricket Tournament 2014 was organized on
10th October, 2014 at Play Ground, Bombay Veterinary College, Parel, Mumbai by the
auspicious hands of Dr. A. S. Ranade, HOD, Poultry, L.P.M, Extension & A.G.B, B.V.C,
Mumbai.
