TESTING SUMMARY

1. Set up SAM2.2. Set up ECS2 communication controller.3. Test communication to SAM1.5 or SAM2 unit via ECS2 coms Controller4. Test communication to Access Control unit via ECS2 coms Controller

SAM2 SET UP – VIA RS232

SAM2 – RS232

RS232 Communication Test;• Connect a straight RS232 cable between the Lap Top and the

SAM2 RS232 port(DB9 Connector on front panel• Open SAM2 ECT

• Select “Com Port” and double click on “Password”

RS232 Communication Test; Cont;• Active communication will be shown on the

bottom left as indicated with the RED circle until it says “received”

1. Click on “Load Config” and select the applicable config file.

2. Click on “Update SAM” and wait until SAM has been updated – This can be seen on the bottom left as indicated with the RED circle until it says “received”

3. Click on “Sync Time”4. Click on “Get Config” and ensure that

SAM2 shows you the current date and time.

5. Capture SAM2 Serial number.6. Click on “Update”7. Click on “Set Config”

RS232 Communication Test; Cont;1. Click on “Alarm Configuration” tab2. Select “RS485” under “Coms Config”3. Click on “Set”4. Click on “Get Config”5. Click on “Set Config”

• Check that “Intruder” alarm is number “9”• Check that “Movement” alarm is number “11”

Close SAM2 ECT

ECS2 Coms Controller USB port.• Open ECS2 ECT

• Select “USB” and click on “Login”
