OVERALL OBJECTIVE

• Encourage Ifugao farmers to continue maintaining their rice terraces

Specific Objectives

• To show how SRI can improve farmer’s income

• To train a core of farmer trainers on SRI

• To produce appropriate materials for promotion

• To scale up SRI validation and promotion in the province

Key Outputs

• 275 Ifugao men and women were trained in the principles and practices of SRI

• 110 pilot demonstration farms were established (10 per municipality)

• Video documentation and project paper on SRI: the Ifugao experience

• Improved incomes among the trainees and practitioners

SRI Sites

• Hungduan - (1) Hapao

• Kiangan - (3) Nagacadan,Bayninan and Julongan

• Mayaoyao - (1) Mapawoy

• Banaue - (1) Bangaan

• Lamut - (1) ISCAF

METHODOLOGY

• Single plant per hill

• Equal spacing at 25X25 cm distance per hill

• Early transplanting (8-12 days old)

• Moist but unflooded soil

• Use of organic fertilizer
