Reality Shop pRovideS pRoSpectivefoR SpaSh StudentS12.06.11On December 6th, over 200 students participated in the Partners in Education (PIE) Reality Shop at Stevens Point Area High School. The Reality Shop is a financial literacy event where students put their budgeting skills into action. Before the Reality Shop opens, students are assigned an occupation, income and benefits, marital status and family. With this information, students create a monthly budget that includes housing, child care, groceries, transportation and everything else a family needs for a month.
The Reality Shop is “staffed” by area business representatives and volunteers who “sell” their services to the students. For example, realtors sell houses, car dealers sell vehicles, and insurance agents offer insurance coverage. After the event, students spent time reflecting on their experience to determine if any “conflicts” existed between the dream and reality.

Kathy and Dale Skibba are the new owners of Bookfinders in Stevens Point. Located at 1001 Brilowski Road, Ste A, the Skibba’s hit the ground running, learning the ins & outs of the bookstore as well as the workings of the store itself. As things slow down a bit, they look
forward to expanding the list of titles in certain sections such as Children’s as well as other areas.
The Skibba’s also have a second business within the bookstore that keeps them busy. They operate a delivery and return site for JC Penney Catalog orders out of the same location as Bookfinders. With orders being placed, received and unpacked in time for Christmas, it truly has been a hectic and happy holiday season. Congratulations Kathy and Dale and welcome to the Portage County Business Council!

what they have to Say \\Since 1886, we have been one of Wisconsin’s most respected law firms, with a long history of developing relationships based on integrity and trust. Today, our firm includes a team of 18 respected attorneys who are dedicated to the communities in which they live. Our attorneys actively volunteer with more than 40 area organizations, and we have supported the Portage County Business Council for the past 32 years. Our partnership with the Business Council allows us access to essential resources and provides networking opportunities in the community. Our firm and the Portage County Business Council share a mutual desire to encourage growth and stability in the Stevens Point area and help our community grow and prosper.
As we celebrate our 125th year of providing legal services, we are excited to announce the unveiling of our new logo. Moving forward we have decided to emphasize two names, “Anderson O’Brien.” Our name will continue to honor Hiram D. Anderson, Jr. and Gerald M. O’Brien. Hiram joined the firm in 1946 and remained an integral part until his passing in 2006. Jerry joined the firm in 1959 and continues his practice to this day. He served as managing partner for 38 years, during which time we grew from 5 attorneys to the 18 we have today.
We are a full-service law firm and handle many different areas of law, including accident and personal injury, business and corporate law, elder law and guardianships, estate planning and probate, employment and divorce and family law. You can expect the same dedication to quality that you have come to expect from us over the years. We look forward to working with you in 2012 and beyond.\\\\\
